5 more days have passed, 10 days now, and still 5 players missing in action.
Is it really that hard to make a race file for beginner game?

I would really want to play, but I don't know how to play the online version of the game. What need to play? I can send the file of my race. Version of my game 2.70J - is it 2.70JRC?

So I just sent my race file. It seems that a few players couldn't play. So if blueturbit will email me the race files at knightpraetor@yahoo.com after he checks them, then I will try to host the game. I guess we will just have 7-8 players instead of 9

Your race file, and for Fentath, who PM'd his earlier today, are both corrupt and need to be checked/redone.
If you are creating the game files though, I don't know that my checking your race would serve much use?

27JRC3 and 26JRC4 have a different start(splash) screen.
On my system the JRC3 has a small screen in the center, the JRC4 has a full screen with different picture/graphics.
26JRC4 will say 2.6j, and 27JRC3 will say 2.7j
My history is foggy. Are there different JRC patches that look the same? JRC1, JRC2, JRC3? I know my original retail version says 2.7i on the screen.
The best thing to do is go to the Stars! Autohost link at the top of the screen here, then go to "Access the AutoHost KN-2050 central computer" link and download the 27JRC3 or 26JRC4, whichever you prefer.
http://starsautohost.org/kn2050.htm
The JRC4 is only necessary if you are hosting a game somewhere else, to get the latest bug fixes in your games. Autohost uses the JRC4 to host the games. I've used the JRC3 to do my turns here with no problems for years.
Stars! Download Library
Available files:
for example:
STARS27JRC3.ZIP is the J RC3 beta exe file - copy over your existing 2.7 exe file (English-retail) (Stars! 2.7)

I actually have all the versions in the same folder. I didn't overwrite them. I just gave them different names so that I know which one is which, and that way was able to keep them all in one folder. Don't ask me why. In case I want to test things with different versions, I suppose. LOL

The difference you're seeing is between 2.6 and 2.7. 2.6i, 2.6jRC3 and 2.6jRC4 have identical fullscreen splash screens (and the latter both say 2.6j). Similarly the non-fullscreen 2.7i and 2.7j. 1.1a is different again (and fullscreen). Also, my 2.6i says "Verison 2.6i Retail Version (Do not distribute)" which is kind of odd since 2.6 is supposed to be the "registered shareware version" IIRC I got it as 2.6h and patched it, so that might be why. Also, the German 2.7j version has the version and button texts un-bolded.
The 2.6jRC3 executable file size is 4,218,116 bytes.
The 2.6jRC4 executable file size is 3,344,384 bytes.
The 2.7jRC3 executable file size is 3,153,152 bytes.
The German 2.7jRC3 executable file size is 3,220,608 bytes.

Yes. RC1 and RC2 are both incompatible with each other and RC3&4 tho like above they probably have identical splash screens.
