In 2.7 don't detonating minefields show up as pink? They do on my version.
Therefore if you find the pink dot at the centre of your pink minefield you can then check there are no ships (of yours) bar the minelayers in that minefield.
Whenever I play SD I always use detonating minefields - they're fantastic to overlap with any of the other 2 types of field.

-if a minefield is in a position to detonate it then chances are you wont forget to replenish it.
-I make sure that every (or at least as many as I humanly can) ship I build can withstand at least 1 detonation if I'm using detonation... it's like a safety net of <<insert name of preferred armour here>>
-a LONE mml? I've always found the 512 fleet limit and 512 field limit is a killer for SD... so why a LONE mml?????
-one word for this... "bugger".
