Conversely, I think the game has ended (it has ended, hasn't it?) in a draw. It doesn't look like any of the partnerships are still intact and both submitting turns. This includes my own partner who appears to have left (I think) without a word (especially a password) to me.
My partner is still submitting. Did we win? Laughing

Here's race characteristics of Hand of Quiik:

PRT: IT
LRT: ISB, GR
1/4 habitat centered/equal, 17% growth
Economy: 1/1000, 11/9/11 (-g), 10/4/11
Research: En, El, Bio +75% / W, P, C normal
No points remaining

When I took over, I had no history file so all previous planet recon was lost. I was under seige by the Mancuvians and the Blobs, and to my SW the Stardazers were right up adjacent to my HW in strength, and unyielding in his refusal to allow any recon in that direction (all attempts were shot down). I had the Harlequins screaming about planets in the West that the original player had colonized and I figured the last thing I needed was another committed enemy, so I adopted a policy of placation towards him. I didn't argue about who the rightful owner of those planets should be and allowed him to take them over. For most of the game it was a matter of trying to get some reconnaisance in an already established world, beyond the point where most tolerate scouts in their assumed areas of ownership. The UAF, Traders, Harlequins, Shadallrangers (and of course the Gannoks) were tolerant of this effort - the Blobs, Mancuvians, and Stardazers did their best to thwart any recon.

I was too embroiled in defending the few planets I had when I took over to make much progress in expansion. I was successful in defending against the far superior Blobs (who were in 2nd place, and remained until they quit, I believe), but the effort was exhausting my limited resources leaving little for research or anything else. Moreover, they favored large numbers of inferior tech warships that seldom resulted in tech gains even though I always won the battles (that and the unskilled ship designs were why I always won). I even managed to snatch a couple planets from him in the meantime. The Mancuvians were merely an annoyance, harrassing skirmishes, keeping me on my toes, never allowing me to relax my guard in the North.

Then the Harlequins declared war and it was I that they attacked. Like the Blobs, I stopped his attacks cold too, and then suddenly, all my tormentors quit, all at once. It wasn't until then that I began to prosper and make headway. For the longest time I wasn't even keeping pace in the scoreboard with players who had already quit. In the end I was pacing myself against the Phlemnoids, watching as he gained slowly on me, then passed me, and then we exchanged positions back and forth, which is where we are now. I end in 5th place.

By the way, I think in the first week I began playing, I got a rather curious email - No return address, no traceable path, no signature, and only one word in the message body. "QUIT" Rolling Eyes
I always wondered about that.

I'M NOT AN EXPERT AND I'M OFTEN PROVEN WRONG. TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN YOU READ MY POSTS.
