 I've received several emails from yahoo that they are, if I understand it correctly, shutting down all the old news groups. What a horrible thing to do. Most of what we understand nowadays as the "internet" started with those news groups.

This would also apply to the good old Stars! news group in which a giantic mountain of info about Stars can be found. A part of this treasure is preserved in articles in the Stars! Wiki. But it's only a part.

There seems to be an option to download the content and the deadline has been just extended until 31st Jan:

Anybody here who is willing and able to do this or has already done it?

By the way:
Thank you so much, gible, for setting up the Stars! Wiki and putting a hell of a lot work into it. By now Stars! is difficult to imagine without this wiki and stars autohost. And thank you, Ron, for taking the wiki over to the hosting space of autohost.
