Hello All,

New here and this is my first post. I have done my research here and elsewhere, yet I still am having a minor tech. issue. I don't seem to be saving multiple backup files in a solo game even though I have edited the stars.ini file with 'Backups=100'... and have done so directly under the [Misc] header. I still maintain it (the .ini) in my Win directory and have full access to write to it and its sub-folders/files as well. I run Win XP/Serv Pack 2. I am running stars26i available from abandonia, BTW... and with no add-ons, extensions or utilities.

I do save my most recent turn, and can copy any turn... save it to another folder and reload it any time I like, but I see no place where there appear any numbered backups stored for easy access/reloads.

Also...

Awesome game! It seems like I came to the party quite late, huh? I have been a fan of turn-based strategy my whole life (and strategy board games as well), and though I had seen this game many times for download, I never bothered. Sci-fi isn't exactly my favorite theme and that Ascendency game I bought all those years ago soured me on the genre. Yet this game rocks even against the AI! There seems to be a lot to learn, much less master. Granted, it took me two days to figure out how to build what I'll call a "compound custom transport order" able to pick up all my germanium AND the dunnage... and all in one haul... but I enjoy the challenges of learning such little quirks (but seriously, someone needs to put THAT into a strategy guide or in any section which details remote mining... figuring it out all by myself... my greatest in-game victory thus far Laughing ).

Lastly, are there any newish players around for a noob PBEM who know how to host a game?
