There are some players who like the diplomacy aspects of multi-player Stars. There are others who would rather play a silent game.

I'm in the latter camp. It's not that I dislike diplomacy; rather it's maybe that I like it too much, and will spend way, way too much time on it if it is allowed. When I do that, I find myself spending less time actually playing Stars and more time discussing/planning/negotiating.

A silent game is also more tense. No NAPs. No declarations of hostility. Nothing but the silence of the void. I really enjoy that tension.

I also generally dislike alliances in Stars. I don't like games where tech trading is allowed. I prefer games where all players must be set to enemy, but the only way to guarantee that alliances are not agreed upon is to disallow all communications. I trust players not to cheat on that.

What about the rest of y'all? Do you like or dislike diplomacy in Stars? Why/why not?

What we need's a few good taters.
