Thank you - the 0.25 minimum hab value is mentioned but I must have missed it as it isn't actually shown in the formula itself. Which was why my version of the formula had the "IF" statement.

What I am still trying to work out is a (ideally) simple way of predicting the populations on starbases in the future so it might be possible to have a spreadsheet which could more accurately predict future resources.

The formula:

present pop + ((growth factor * present pop) * (1 - (present pop / starbase max pop)))

Gives an answer for the following year to within about 5% for the tests I have done so far but I need to test it more to see how accurate it will be for say 5 or 10 years in the future.
