The Stranger-Voyager team to the south dropped out because the Fromage-Valkyrie team to the east attacked them early on. The Stranger-Voyager team were set up to take advantage of a lengthy period of peace which they did not get, and apparently did not have any backup plan for defending against an early attack.

The Voshera-Quickoid team to the north and the Runar-Grendalites team to the west did not weaken themselves against each other, they used the peace to grow stronger. Apparently not strong enough in the case of the Runar-Grendalities team, as they could not defend themselves against the Fromage-Valkyrie team when the Fromage-Valkyrie team attacked the Runar-Grendalities team.

But then the Voshera-Quickoid team entered the war...
