Thanks for the replies and comments. I suppose what I am trying to find out is what is the best strategy for the early part of the game. It sounds as if it is simply to scout for suitable planets and then colonise them in strength - which is what I have been doing so far. I was wondering if there are alternative strategies - but of course there are so many variables - PRT, growth rates etc.
