Hi there,
I wanted to place something on the table which I've been seeing in a game with predefined alliances.
One pair of allies named their Races in a way, that the plural race names of both races where the same, don't know for sure about the singular race names, as you cannot see them.
This has certain interesting side effects:
First of all it is no longer possible to distinguish between both races whithin the game. Planet names, Ship and Fleet names, everything is the same. Only on the starmap with enabled player colors you retain the ability to actually tell who is whom (and even that only by memorizing the color).
Even more, the data dumps (Pxx Files etc.) also contain only the plural names, which merges the recon data of both distinct empires together.
While this has a certain style, I have to agree to that, it is a certain tactical hindrance as it takes you the ability to actually know who you are dealing with. If one of the partners is an WM, for example, this could be quite significant.
Given the drawbacks, would you consider this a legitimate tactic (basically on information warfare) or would you think of it as something that should be avoided?
