Right lets clear up the UK governmental system....

"traditionally"....

The Monarch made ALL the decisions and was in ultimate control. Parliament was a body set up to bring about the public view, to present and advise the monarch as to what the people need/want etc... and at the end of the day the monarch could do as he/she wished... only REALLY risking civil war (which happened every now and then). This is only a basic view of things, but you understand that the leader of parliament (prime minister) is 100% democratically voted into place, unlike the US president who doesn't have to get the most votes over the ENTIRE US, just enough points from the Electoral college to win (correct me if I got that bit wrong). As such the prime minister "should" put forward the views of the people and make decisions based on what they need/want.

Actually...
The Monarch is in power... but this is virtually un-used. There's loads of bye laws etc.. in this country that go un-noticed and ignored. At the end of the day the Prime Minister is in power. But people still vote based primarily upon which person will best support their views... there's alot of party loyalty but that seems to be going out the window a bit now.

I wouldn't say people are dumb... only uneducated. There's alot of the facts we all don't have access to. This is because A) it would take an age to educate EVERYONE. B) even if everyone had access to the facts, not everyone would understand. It's such a pain in the backside that there are so many people that don't care - thats the real problem. People who don't care still make opinions based on NOTHING. I say take all the people who don't care and slap them in the war zone (on either side) and see how long it takes for them to care.

Memento is a fantastic film and one of my favourites. But it does again bring about a great point... if someone alters the facts... even slightly and the whole thing can go wrong. Teddy was innocent remember!!!! All it takes is for one person to get a few figres wrong here and there and suddenly we've all got the wrong information.

My general view for politics is if you've got a choice between A, B and C. A are bad people who didn't a terrible job... don't vote for them, if B aren't doing a good job... don't vote for them. If C has never had a chance then vote for them. Hence I vote lib dem. I'd like to vote Green but they'd #### it all up if they got in power because they have no other plans or agenda.

I think I'm gonna do something my history teacher would shout at me for... sum things up simply.

We can't trust our governments because they'll sugar coat things and hide things - self protection.
We can't trust their government because they've already lied outside the war... never mind now we're at war.
We can't trust the media because they tell people what they think will sell the most.
We can't trust the soldiers because they're getting shot at, as such it's an adrenaline controlled scenario - thought isn't priority.
We can't trust the population because they can't see things from our side and you can be damned sure Saddam isn't telling them the whole truth.

The only people we can REALLY trust are the historians 20 years from now. Shame we can't tell what they'll say now.

I'm against the war because innocent people get hurt. But I'm 100% in favour of getting rid of Saddam because he hurts innocents - I just think there are other options.
I'm against a totally US controlled rebuilding because they'll be doing what ANYONE else would be.... serving self interest. But I want US + UK to pay for the damage since they made it. I want the UN running the rebuild because if the UN works for it's own self interest they'll be working Iraq (minus Saddam) into a position to join the UN... which is surely a good thing?

I think I'm gonna reserve all my judgements now until we find WOMD production facilities. If we find them then great stuff.. some good will have come from it. If we don't then Blair n Bush have a problem because their reason for rolling on in turned out to be a sham. If we fail completely then god help our governments.
