Before I publish this game announcement on "The List" and newsgroup, I wanted to give you folks at this fine site a chance to get in. I announced the game to my regulars yeaterday and already have a handful of players. I'm now collecting race files and Ron has OKed the game slot, so we should be under way in a few days.
This is the 6th game in a series that I'm hosting. The 7th game will be starting in a little over 100 days, and it will be the next championship game. If you are in a top 5 spot after 100 years of play in this game, you will be invited to play in the upcoming championship match. Be advised that it is very likely that this game will continue after the championship game has started. I would hope that everyone finishes both games, but it is obviously not required. If any of the top 5 don't play in the championship, I will then ask #6, then #7, and so on until we have 5 players from this game.
Another "top 5" players will be drawn from the "Rolling Stones" game, that is currently under way.
The final slots for the championship will be filled by other top level players, including past game winners from other games that I've hosted, and top players from the first, just finished championship match. In other words, you'll be facing the Defending Grand Champions. These are all very good players, that I can vouch for. Some are well known here, on the newsgroup, and other Stars! sites.
But that's the next game. Before you can get there, you've got to prove yourself. You've got to show that you're worthy, by playing well in this qualifying match.
If you want to play in this game, you need to act now and send me a version JRC3 race file. I will confirm player positions only after I have received and tested a race file from you. Once you have a confirmed spot, you will be able to send me race updates any time, right up until the game starts. You should have at least 72 hours from now to fine tune your race if you wish, but you need to send me a placeholder ASAP.
Game specs for "The Beatles": Large universe, normal density, distant starting positions, ABBS, galaxy clumping. Played on Autohost, 24 hours max between turns, 7 days a week. Public scores will come on after 100 turns and Stars! will pick a winner. However we will continue to play until a unanimous vote by all remaining players ends the game. All races and skill levels welcome, and I expect a full 16 player game. No team wins but diplomacy and trade are encouraged. Host is playing, so keep me honest and password your race files.
Speaking of honest, deliberate cheating will not be tolerated. I do not consider "Chaff" and "Split Fleet" to be cheating, so be prepared to deal with chaff. See

I'm looking for more people to join my "Stars! group". I've currently got about 50 players, 40 of them active and reliable, having played in at least 1 of my recent games.
