You're talking to someone who created a gmail account for the sole purpose of managing Stars!-related messages and archiving them for all eternity...

Indeed, most ads "targeted" to my Stars!-related messages are highly amusing (Industrial or mining equipment, anyone? Pest control? Detective services?) or outright hilarious when they "target" race names.
I say let them analyze all they want of my alliance's strategizing and rants on ship design and tactics, and I hope they extract something useful from all that.

You're assuming there exists an email provider that guarantees your privacy and/or anonymity.
Well, anything that leaves your own machine, by whatever route, you can safely say it's public. So Gmail is no better or worse than others, only Google is not making any reassuring-like noises about it.
