There aren't any good or bad PRTs per se, just some that fit certain playstyles better. The WM can do quite well when played properly. It can also be beaten quite well by another PRT played to its own strengths. The distinction is between players that use their races' strengths effectively and understand the game mechanics, and those who don't.
Forget what you've learned against the computer, it plays nothing like a real human opponent.
Personally, I like the WM a lot - especially when I can play with a solid ally to provide minefields and trade tech with.
