afaik the only clones that are complete and active enough are Thousand Parsec, hxNova and Nova. All have easily contactable developers, tho *Nova are both when-I-have-time projects. OTOH *Nova strict Stars! clone whereas TP is a rules framework so making an AI for *Nova should be simpler.
The wiki page for clones is as complete as I can make it, and is one that I mostly try to keep up to date.
- The Thousand Parsec page is well maintained by JLP(TP dev), tho naturally he skips most of the going ons at TP(theyz buzy).
- The Étoiles client for Freestars is active. I'm not sure about the other clients as I've been neglecting them since I marked Freestars itself as inactive since 2004. Which is somewhat of a shame as it designed with independant clients/AI in mind.
- The only outstanding clone info I have is that Freestars 2.x seems to have dropped from the web but I'll talk to Omnivore before I change it to dead.
