None.
But overpop (or 'only' filling up your planets 100%) and popdrop are very important.
But the orgie as initially described isn't a really wise use of your pop. Why dropping millions of pop to conquere a world instead of just bringing with you some bombers?
Nevertheless your pop is a mighty weapon
* to support your bombers
* to speed up conquest
* and to populate a newly conquered planet at once
* therefore you can build a starbase / dock rightaway to fuel up
