I'll add that it is a nice touch making it red for your enemy, so that if you as the CA take the planet, only to lose it again, it reverts back to red settings.

Isn't it just that if you kick a CA off a planet the values return to the original ones? So if it was a green planet to start with and the CA no longer lives on it, the planet will be green again (given without any terraforming). OAs have nothing to do with any of that ...

I guess I wasn't real clear. Yes, you are correct.
I was thinking of all those planets that start off yellow, and take years to terraform to a good green. eg. 1 single immune, 1 medium band, and 1 narrow band races that are so popular.
