Getting back to the subject, I thought I would share a comparison between a TT AR & a nonTT AR in universes of the same definition (6 players, medium, normal, distant, unclumped. Diplomacy banned).
Wizard (I hope & doubt that he will mind me imparting this info since Sixpack1 is over) played the nonTT AR in Sixpack1 which I hosted. I was originally & independantly going to use a race design that was very similar but, since Wizard is the host of Sixpack2, I thought it looked too much like a clone so I redesigned the race as a TT AR.
Race design
Common: IFE,ARM,ISB,NRSE,NAS,RS. 15% growth, divisor=10. En/weap/con cheap, Prop/Elec exp.
Wizard: Habs=Grav Imm 1/7. Bio Exp.
Me: TT. Habs=no immunity, 1/5. Bio Std.
This comparison ends in 2460 since my game is still on. Wizard is on line 1 & I am on line 2 in each pairing.

What Happened Next?
As most of you know, Wizard is an experienced & classy player but he ran into an unbeleivable -f IS operated by Dogthinker - would you beleive his -f race had 52k res by 2450!! Dogthinker started his assault in the late '50s IIRC & the game ended in 2463.
As for me, I'm still plugging away with a chance in 2496. In the late '40s 3 races were attacking, I lost several planets & I was thinking I'd be out within 20 years but 2 of those races got busy elsewhere, I was able to hang on by my teeth until minerals started flowing well enough to go on the offensive & eventually defeat the 3rd race mentioned above. Just after that my two remaining adversaries decided they better attack me rather than each other. I'm ranked #1.
Conclusion
The above comparison clearly shows that Wizard's race is far superior in the early-mid game & mine doesn't really catch up until at least 2480 under similar conditions.
The fact that the end result does not reflect that just shows you how big an affect your enemies have - mine were certainly strong enough but the strongest ones fought each other. The game is still undecided but the fact that my TT AR is still in it is purely down to that.
