I believe releasing the code to the public would be a bad idea for the reasons you stated, especially the .x files.

I don't mind if a few trusted people have it, perhaps some of those most involved in Freestars.

I suppose that sometime in the future, it will probably be public knowledge and we'll just have to deal with it then. Cool
