I'm not sure if code from Freestars could be useful for that task, but I've been a long-time proponent of joining the x-file sanitizer effort with a bug-free turn-generator. Sherlock

Seems to me with a "server" program like that we would gain the best of both worlds, including the ability to keep the old client while a new, revamped one is built. Cool
