From the IS forum, a test that was performed a little while ago, that I will lead into a Q on engines Smile

Slightly off topic from this older (but interesting) IS thread, but in the real world: AD8 on these hulls??? Is the extra board speed, W and travel-range worth the extra cost to an early econ vs DDL7?

Is it assuming NRSE and no IFE here, or why not go to FM or RHRS (ok - slower battlespeed, but ...)? And if you did run with NRSE with no IFE, would you use AD8? Doesn't it make for an expensive stack?

Conversely, would you ever use a higher powered engine on a combat DD or FF?

AD8 I only seem to use on sentries or scouts that need a bit of speed and range. Early combat DDs & FFs I go with DDL7 if I don't have FM or RHRS. Once or twice I may have plonked a TGD on a light scout to get that bit *extra* speed and distance for a specific purpose, but only to explode the design shortly thereafter because I needed the slot back.

[OK, ok. I admit to one DD interdictor I recently used as a non-IS that has AD8+MJ+2yaks+1shield to get rid of those pesky WM scouts but not have to use Beta torps and I didn't have Baz yet, only yaks and I didn't think to put a Cap on it dammit. But in hindsight, I think it was probably a mistake to use this design - the court is still out on that one.]

Am I making a mistake here? How do combat DD and FF go having expensive, quick non-ramscoops in human-game situations? Especially stacks of them?

OK, last question and it's about IS-10, which has been queried before but not quite this way that I have seen. Then I (try to) leave the forum alone for a little while Smile :

What is the lightest hull we would put IS-10 on for battle purposes? CC? BC? Rogue? Stealth Bomber? B-17? BB and above only? Specialised LF (so that it keeps up pre-popdrop)? None of the above? All of the above?

Thanks (as always) for any advice in advance! Very Happy
