I hope you don't all think I'm going over the top here. I always try for perfection - sometimes too hard.

I've closely examined battlegrid positions & what ships most suit each of us for the Squidcakes battle. The particular role best suited by each IA member depends upon the battlegrid position v each VA member, the ship types the IA & VA are likely to have & battlegrid factors such as retreat areas, etc.

My analysis suggests that the most suitable layouts are:
1. 11 Races. Most important requirements are met, good retreat area. Weakness: positions spoiled if Earth missing.
2. 9 Races, no Drakh,Narn. Matchups good. Weaknesses: Only so-so retreat area, positions spoiled if Earth missing.
3. 9 Races, no Gate,Drakh. Similar to (2). Retreat area maybe a little better.
4. 8 Races, no Gate,Drakh,Narn. Matchups good, works reasonably well if no Earth. Weakness: Poor retreat areas.

IMO we should gamble that Earth is present &, in that case, the 11-race scenario looks very good.

E=Earth, D=Drakh, V=Vorlon, G=Gaim, L=Llort, H=Hyak, P=Pak, o=Gate, S=SPOO, I=Ipsha, N=Narn

You may agree with my analysis or you might prefer another scenario (see battlegrid positions in earlier post) but I think it is now necessary to make the decision.

I will try to find the time tomorrow to simulate this (which might lead to changes) but according to my deliberations IA roles & ship transfers are as follows:

IA Roles:

1. Commander: Spoo (main IA force designed to take on Ipsha first & then Hyak)
2. Secondary: Llort (range 3/low weight force designed to destroy Vorlon Big Mutha BBs while staying out of range & then join the battle v Hyak.
3. Artillery: Narn (most of the missile ships. Should stay out of beam range. Also holds FF Croby MLs which will hopefully keep them safe)
4. Mother: Pak (unarmed ships including bombers & freight chaff. Has good retreat area.
5. Punching Bag: Drakh (most of the chaff - some RPs included for Spoo. Decent retreat area - uses retreat BO?)
6. Observer: Gaim (only used for manipulation)

Transfer Schedule:

(i) Assumed starting spare slots in 2504:
Drakh,Gaim,Llort,Pak,Spoo = 1, Narn = 3.

(ii) Additional spare slots required:
Drakh: one extra slot by 2405
Narn: two extra slots by 2406 (planned, assumes one for the suggested Spoo transfer below)
Spoo: one extra slot by 2407 (suggestion: transfer all "Tools of Enlightment" MLs to Narn in 2406).

(iii) Transfers:

Some ships have a "last build" year to allow slot availability. Red year indicates that last ships should be completed by that year (many of them are no longer being built anyway). After all transfers are complete Spoo, Drakh & Narn will have 16 slots in use but others will have spare slots - Llort will be able to accomodate a spare slot or two at the end if need be.

Once the schedule is confirmed by agreement + simulation I can provide each of you with an individual personal schedule since I realise that this is somewhat complex.
