"MT":
The Elastance were correct: just the first MT was tech. Many races met this trader. The second was Langston Shell - hardly worth the minerals.
"Big corner to boot with":
Yes. After challanging any Quartez/Foodfight claims east of their HW's agressively, we had a 60-planet corner in 2430 or so! But that's only slightly above average. If 13th player would manage to hold 24 planets, there would be 56 left per alliance.
We stonewalled the "gang of races in the north", and that paid off handsomely. Basically, noone bothered us while we slashed our way west. We spend energy hiding our progress, letting enemy fleets wander in the open unhindered for example, trying to hop from planet to planet, using overcloakers, having nRavergz fly my ships, and sending a long message to the board claiming that Early was the frontline while it was way more west already. As said before the start of the game, information was to play an important role in this Winter's Tale!
I'm sorry if I am not too friendly here, but: either you other players saw it coming but did not act, in which case we all deserve our position fully. Or they did not see it coming in the first place, in which case we deserve it fully too.
Now... what are the victory conditions? A certain number of planets for example? Good question for Robert, or for some democracy maybe.
