I can't speak for Ron, but I know he's got a lot of things on his mind, and can't always remember to "put all games on hold".
I guess it should be up to the individual hosts to stick their games on hold when autohost is down (for any length of time) for maintenance or other troubles, to prevent this happening in the future.
I was guilty of not putting one of my games on hold, in which Slave of Seven missed a turn. Apologies to SOS.
Usually, when Autohost is paused like that, you can do everything you normally could, except, the screen won't show the update. So, yep, try it...
