Ranking and rating. I do not find it being bad idea.
Certainly it does not spoil any fun?
It adds little long term virtual "bonus" to the winners and it takes quite little effort.
Only trouble i see with it is that someone has to do the bookkeeping. If he gets bored then the system may get abandoned.
