Install wine as a linux native installation, assuming that there is NO windows installation available.
After wine is installed modify the configuration file to reflect your installation and desired drive specifications.

Create a directory for your stars programs, and install the stars26jrc3.exe in this directory, and then run stars using wine.

That is what we mean by linux native. It is the wine installation we are referring to.

you can modify [fonts] in the config file.
you will also most likely want to change the [Managed] line to "no" and the [Desktop] to an appropriate size in order to mimic the windows behaviour of pop-ups.
