First of all everybody knows of course Wink

that the starting gate turns matter into energy while the exit gate "translates" that energy back into matter.
ITs are able to gate their minerals (and pop) because during their "translation process" they can keep the "cargo minerals" seperated from the "hull minerals". (Something other races haven't figured out yet.)
Resources = energy so that must mean they can use their "translation process of turning energy into matter" (I would call it "alchemy" Grin

) to also create more minerals out off "thin air" than other races can with their normal alchemy.

JoaT must have MA.

The fact that JoaTs are able to have more resources than any other race on a given planet must have a reason! Scientists have been wondering about that a long time: "Why would they need more than other races?" "What is the use for those extra resources?" they asked.
The answer is easy: JoaTs love Mineral Alchemy! And because they can't just help themselves spending resources on it they found ways to improve it.

CA must have MA.

This is almost similar to the Joat, because again we have a surplus of resources, afteral CAs don't use any resources to terraform! Yet all those resources are being generated anyway, including all the toxic waste polluting the planet.
This is in contradion what he CA stands for! Generate reources, pollute the planet in the process and afterwards not use the resources for terra? "No way! We will use those resources and we will use them wisely: turning them into minerals." And again to safe the enviroment and keep the pollution at a minimum they were able to impove their Mineral Alchemy.
