The new forum does support tree-threaded view like the old one did, if you prefer (its a bit more CPU intensive server-side though).
It may be confusing to some of you that there appear to be 2 'reply' buttons visible when you are reading in a forum.
Each individual post has a small "Reply" button right underneath it. This is for replying to that individual message.
At the top and bottom of the screen when reading in a forum, is a "Post Reply" button. This is for posting a reply to the first post in that Topic.
