I see that Bode has taken some criticism for "admitting" he has taken part in races whilst still hungover.
Personally I think skiing is the best cure for a hangover there is and can't see what the problem is.
It certainly helps not to ski in a straight line, which is what most of us want anyway.

Anyone heard from True Chaos lately? He hasn't been online in quite awhile.

Just wondering if he's emailed anyone to his whereabouts.

Bits Bytes Chips Clocks
Bits in bytes on chips in box.
Bytes with bits and chips with clocks.
Chips in box on ether-docks.

Chips with bits come. Chips with bytes come.
Chips with bits and bytes and clocks come.

Look, sir. Look, sir. read the book, sir.
Let's do tricks with bits and bytes, sir.
Let's do tricks with chips and clocks, sir.

First, I'll make a quick trick bit stack.
Then I'll make a quick trick byte stack.
You can make a quick trick chip stack.
You can make a quick trick clock stack.

And here's a new trick on the scene.
Bits in bytes for your machine.
Bytes in words to fill your screen.

Now we come to ticks and tocks, sir.
Try to say this by the clock, sir.

Clocks on chips tick.
Clocks on chips tock.
Eight byte bits tick.
Eight bit bytes tock.
Clocks on chips with eight bit bytes tick.
Chips with clocks and eight byte bits tock.

Here's an easy game to play.
Here's an easy thing to say....

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report!

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash,
and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash,
and your data is corrupted cause the index doesn't hash,
then your situation's hopeless, and your system's gunna crash.

You can't say this? What a shame, sir!
We'll find you another game, sir.

If the label on the cable on the table at your house
says the network is connected to the button on your mouse,
but your packets want to tunnel on another protocol,
that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall,
and your screen is all distorted by the side-effects of gauss,
so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse,
then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang,
cause as sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gunna hang!

When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy on the disk,

I tend to read the news using the internet. I noticed all over the place today talk of a species of monkey-men with skulls smaller than chimps who could build fires and make stone age tools.

For example: http://www.nature.com/news/2004/041025/full/041025-3.html

It got me thinking, and looking. And I found something more amazing close to home.

(I can honestly say no evidence was planted to make the following discovery.)

In my garden I have found proof of an iron-age species of sheep. So far fragments of 5 different specimens, 3 female and 2 male.

Some were found near remnants of a fire. There are also a few remnants of iron items/tools nearby that have yet to be identified, some look like iron nails.

Dating methods suggest an age of around 7,000 to 200,000 minutes of age between the specimens. Tools have yet to be dated.

No human bones have yet been found in my garden. From this we can conclude with certainty that an advanced tribe of sheep lived in my garden, built fires and used iron age tools. With skull sizes a bit smaller than a chimp it is amazing what some species of sheep were able to do!

Just coz I know you all love silly online adventure games, have a go at Kingdom of Loathing.
Its fun, addictive and it teaches you bad drinking habits Cheers
It has PvP combat. Dueling
It has a Magical Hippy Stone that emanates groovy good feelings.
But not both.
And lots of other stuff you're sure you've seen before.

Its still in beta, so you can make far more meat than anyone should reasonably be allowed to and there's nothing at the top of the sorceresses tower yet. Mad OTOH its also very much in production, new stuff gets added all the time.

For help try KoL Helper and KoL Random's Moon information

my 2 cents

You'll find me there as Gible, the Level 13 Jive Pillager Very Happy

I guess it should be more acruately called "argue.gif".

Since Ron seems to be elsewhere today, I'll throw out a couple puzzles...

PM me with your answers

EDog

1. What is the next number in this sequence?

21 132 193 234 285 46 97 ?

2. Thomas, Richard, and Harcourt are quarrymen working on a castle. Part of their jobs entailed delivering large stone blocks to the worksite. Unfortunately, a river lay between the quarry and the worksite. They have a boat that can carry all three of them or two of them plus a stone block. It takes all three of them to load or unload a block, but it only takes one of them to row the boat across the river, loaded or not. How many times must the boat cross the river in order for them to bring all three men and four stone blocks from one side to the other?

3. McCarthy, the murder suspect, was being questioned by a police detective. "At 8 AM on Monday, March 4, 2003, you were drinking coffee in a rear booth in the Starbucks at the airport?"
"I was," confirmed McCarthy.
"And you didn't see the man in the booth across the aisle - not five feet from you - stabbed to death?"
"No, I was reading the local morning newspaper."
"The cashier remembers you. You were in an awful hurry. You gave her five dollars for a two dollar order and you didn't wait for your change."
"I had to catch a plane."
"You were aware of the time, but you didn't notice the man in the next booth was dead - with a knife sticking out of his chest?"
"I might have seen him, but I never looked directly at him. I was busy checking the New York Stock Exchange listings."
"How long did that take you?"
"A few minutes. Then I read the market news. There was a long article forecasting telecommunications prospects for next year. After I finished the article, I noticed the time. I had less than five minutes to get to the gate."
"Mr. McCarthy, I suggest you get a better alibi!" Exclaimed the police detective. How

No! Not the movie!

Here is hoping that all the Americans have a Safe & Happy 4th. I hope all you others have a happy 4th as well, although it may not mean the same to you as it does to me. Smile

But, regardless of whether or not you celebrate the 4th, here's hoping that all the troops of all nationalities get to go home soon. Cheers

Greetings;

I came across a couple of neat things today. First, a set of inflatable speakers at www.ellula.com for $40 a pair. Take a look, even if you have no use for such a thing it is interesting.

Second, the next generation of computer monitors. A bit more expensive, $40,000, but it will definately sell in a lot of industries - www.actuality-systems.com

I just wanted to say how pleased I am to see you back Mr. VekTor Sir. Your post on boosters made the single biggest improvement in my ramp speed and the only 3 games of Stars! that I've won have all been with a 3.5 cheap modification of your "What Factories" race (I had to dumb it down a bit because I kept spinning out in the corners).
I also wanted to ask if you might be into easing your way back into Stars! with a nice friendy easy going sort of an all -f game. We're calling it "Rabid Weasels in a Box". We'll be gentle, promise Angel

Hi all!

Just wondering how many Stars! players participate in SETI(at)home project. When playing Stars!, we all look for other's presence in the universe, we use our scanners (planetary and remote, on-ship ones) to spot an "alien". SETI is just about the same. Moreover, one can play Stars! and help to look for artificial signals from space, just by running on your computer a SETI(at)home client in background mode.
So are there others SETI-users among us?

BTW, you can find a link to official SETI(at)home site at the my footer note below.
