from the Forum's FAQ:
In certain forums you may have the ability to include polls inside your messages. Polls allow you to ask a question and provide a number of answers other forum members may choose from. For the sake of accuracy only registered users may cast in their votes.
When you click on the CREATE POLL link, located on the post page a pop-up will appear allowing to create a poll with several potential multiple choice answers. When you are done, simply click on the Edit button and you will be taken back to the post page and then poll you've created will be attached to the message.
You can edit an existing poll, by clicking on the EDIT link, or you can remove the poll entirely by click on the DELETE.
You will only have 1 opportunity to vote in a poll, so make your decision careful, you will not be able to change it at a later point.
Ashlyn
Last I heard, though, ANYONE can vote in our polls... so keep that in mind.

Split Fleet Dodge |

Split Fleet Dodge is not easily understood.
I used to think it was ONE big fleet that split into smaller fleets to avoid TOTAL annihilation.
And, with this definition, I've always been wondering what would have it be known as a cheat. Believe me, if I have 10 battleships in a situation where they will be killed, and I can split them in 2s and hit 5 planets of my opponent (or whatever!), I would do it in a heartbeat. Am I cheating?
The latest seems to come with the weight of the fleets. I consulted my friend in texas, who knows much more than me, and he said
"This is a tough one. Split fleet is even allowed by some hosts in addition to chaff. The argument is "is it illegal to split and run so at least some of us will survive" which sounds reasonable. Most would probably do this. But to manipulate fleet weights is intentional abuse to others.
The bug is that the lowest number fleet will chase the heaviest fleet, and the highest will chase the lightest, with others in between in respective order. And someone could manipulate fleet weights to get the enemy fleet to chase certain heavy ones and allow the other lighter fleets to attack uncontested somewhere else. There is a counter, but it involves guessing moves.
Even though five fleets showed up and turned into three the movement of the heavy fleet back through the wormhole could be considered suspicious. Which of the five was the accuser intending to attack with his one? But then why would someone come through a wormhole and then send the heavies back through attacking with the others without intending to lure the enemy fleet into the wormhole? Or perhaps the heavy ones were the precious ones and he wanted to save them from possible destruction?? Although some could consider this a bug abuse, it is generally not ground for accusing someone of cheating.
Probably the best solution, if this tactic was not specifically allowed, is to warn the person accused to be more careful and not use it again to keep the peace in the neighborhood."
Okay, so.... the two parties involved are now BOTH accusing each of the same tactics. I'll just ask the question to you both. Did you intentionally manipulate fleet weights so the other would follow? Then you aren't being too cool Please don't do it again.
I hope this helps. I have allowed the posts of more specifics than I normally would have because I know ALL active players are in on this discussion...
Regards,
Ashlyn

******* Ground breaking news *********
Luap's and Cheekybuggers agree to ceasefire.
According to reliable sources a number of high profile Cheekybugger reporters were offered an exclusive interview with the Luap Minister for information, but were all so astounded with the turn of events that they didn't know what to say or even what questions to ask.
Cheekybugger arms manufacturers were a different story.
A senior executive from the acme arms co. was reportedly furious at the government for shifting policy at such short notice and was quoted as saying " we'll lose millions of dollars " and was contemplating running for parliament himself.
Relatives of the deceased ship captains and crew, were quick to torpedo his ministerial plans however, chanting outside his office " warmonger warmonger stay at home, warmonger warmonger you're all alone ".
A corny but seemingly effective means for the government (whom secretly inspired the protesters) to avoid future embarrasment.
Regards - Steve

Right, I'll start addressing a few points.
First of all, I cannot understand your insistence on colonising LGM1 - I'm aware you own more planets than most species combined (more than 40 at last count). Granted, it is a valubale world rich in many minerals, and is 70+ in value for me, but you have plenty of other frontiers....
Secondly, I have continued to respect the original border you have requested, which was not to go beyond Halsey (granted, the intention was not to scout beyond that position, but no hostile or colonisation craft have been beyond that point). I have sent craft into regions of my space which were never under negociation which you've attacked. Have I attacked any ship within your space?
Thirdly, I know other species have demonstrated concern for your expansionist policy, and species have mentioned hearing rumours regarding my "evil" empire. I hope that I have brought this perception more in line with reality, and any species with concerns is more than welcome to contact me.
<sigh>
These negociations are not going to lead anywhere in the long run....neither of us want to back down from the situation, so lets just resolve the problem on one level - what is the distance from your homeworld to LGM1? If it is nearer than my homeworld, I will remove my colonists from the planet and you can colonise it. If on the other hand, it is not, you should leave LGM1 and cease your mining operations.
Name your homeworld, and I'll name mine!
