Team Blue:
I'm going on a holiday tonight, and I won't be returning until Sunday, June 1st.

I've asked Joe to look in on, and take care of my Angst while I'm away.

But while I'm posting here, I might as well place the outline of my Angst action over the next 8+ years - sense I've already typed it up and sent it to Joe.

Angst plan of action:

2402: Current totals- 33 factories, 160.1k pop, 197 resources.

Build 21 factories.

2403: Totals- 54 factories, 188.9k pop, 248 resources.

Build 28 factories.

2404: Totals- 82 factories, 222.9k pop, 313 resources.

Build 35 factories.

2405: Totals- 117 factories, 263k pop, 392 resources.

Build 20 factories, 45 mines, and start researching construction.

2406: Totals- 137 factories, 310.4k pop, 461 resources.

Continue research construction up through (and beyond) medium freighter.

2407: Totals- 137 factories, 361.5k pop, 512 resources.

Design a "Quick Hit" medium freighter - with a fuel mizer, fuel tank, and no shields or armor.

Build 3 Quick Hits; send out the Santa Maria (to colonize the best looking planet with in 1 year's reach), build new Santa Marias (1-3), and research construction 4 (if extra resources are available build factories.

End of turn totals- 137 factories, 359k pop, 510 resources.

2408:Totals- 137? factories, 411.2k pop, 562? resources.

Design a "Space Invader" privateer - with a fuel mizer, three fuel tanks, and no shields or armor.

Build 4 Space Invaders; send out the Quick Hits fully loaded with pop to the planet just colonized by the Santa Maria. Send out the new colony ships to the best looking nearby planets. Build more Santa Marias if needed.

Set the queue on Custer and new planets to autobuild up to 500 factories, then up to 500 mines.

Research 0%

End of turn pop on Custer - around 345k

2409: Pop on Custer - around 400k

Send out 4 Space Invaders full of pop to best looking planet. Send out new Santa Marias as appropriate.

Quick Hits should be returning to Custer next year, so building more Space Invaders shouldn't be necessary.

Continue with factory and mine production. Make sure iron mining is large enough to support near future privateer production (it will eventually need to be up toward 150kT/year).

2410 on: Maintain 300k pop on Custer until reaching 510 factories, then grow up to 550k pop, 935 factories, and 825 mines. Continue colonizing and moving pop to new worlds.

...

I told you I was bored waiting for this game to start... Smile

from the Forum's FAQ:

In certain forums you may have the ability to include polls inside your messages. Polls allow you to ask a question and provide a number of answers other forum members may choose from. For the sake of accuracy only registered users may cast in their votes.

When you click on the CREATE POLL link, located on the post page a pop-up will appear allowing to create a poll with several potential multiple choice answers. When you are done, simply click on the Edit button and you will be taken back to the post page and then poll you've created will be attached to the message.

You can edit an existing poll, by clicking on the EDIT link, or you can remove the poll entirely by click on the DELETE.

You will only have 1 opportunity to vote in a poll, so make your decision careful, you will not be able to change it at a later point.

Split Fleet Dodge is not easily understood.

I used to think it was ONE big fleet that split into smaller fleets to avoid TOTAL annihilation.

And, with this definition, I've always been wondering what would have it be known as a cheat. Believe me, if I have 10 battleships in a situation where they will be killed, and I can split them in 2s and hit 5 planets of my opponent (or whatever!), I would do it in a heartbeat. Am I cheating? Shocked

The latest seems to come with the weight of the fleets. I consulted my friend in texas, who knows much more than me, and he said

"This is a tough one. Split fleet is even allowed by some hosts in addition to chaff. The argument is "is it illegal to split and run so at least some of us will survive" which sounds reasonable. Most would probably do this. But to manipulate fleet weights is intentional abuse to others.
The bug is that the lowest number fleet will chase the heaviest fleet, and the highest will chase the lightest, with others in between in respective order. And someone could manipulate fleet weights to get the enemy fleet to chase certain heavy ones and allow the other lighter fleets to attack uncontested somewhere else. There is a counter, but it involves guessing moves.
Even though five fleets showed up and turned into three the movement of the heavy fleet back through the wormhole could be considered suspicious. Which of the five was the accuser intending to attack with his one? But then why would someone come through a wormhole and then send the heavies back through attacking with the others without intending to lure the enemy fleet into the wormhole? Or perhaps the heavy ones were the precious ones and he wanted to save them from possible destruction?? Although some could consider this a bug abuse, it is generally not ground for accusing someone of cheating.
Probably the best solution, if this tactic was not specifically allowed, is to warn the person accused to be more careful and not use it again to keep the peace in the neighborhood."

Okay, so.... the two parties involved are now BOTH accusing each of the same tactics. I'll just ask the question to you both. Did you intentionally manipulate fleet weights so the other would follow? Then you aren't being too cool Cool Please don't do it again.

I hope this helps. I have allowed the posts of more specifics than I normally would have because I know ALL active players are in on this discussion... Sherlock

Regards,

Ashlyn

Cheekybugger investigators uncover Luap terrorist plot ! Mad

It has been discovered that Sneaky Luap terrorists planned to bomb the Tsing La Mummification site on Sartre. Crying or Very Sad

According to Franscois Demoin, senoir excavation expert and leading witness of "Holy Biblicle creations", the site is of immense historical value and must be preserved in its antiquity.

Fortunately the foul and dastardly Luap terrorists were discovered and captured before their atrocious deed was carried out. Shocked

Professor Ding Dong Doolittle from the University De Sartre was
quoted as saying "these abominable Luap terrorists must be stopped". Evil or Very Mad

According to Admiral non Pity, numerous Luap worlds were plundered for their minerals to strengthen Cheekybugger defenses on Sartre.

Cheekybuggers are prepared to accept a Luap apology and complete withdrawal from our space otherwise trouble is a brewing ! Mad

******* Ground breaking news *********

Luap's and Cheekybuggers agree to ceasefire.

According to reliable sources a number of high profile Cheekybugger reporters were offered an exclusive interview with the Luap Minister for information, but were all so astounded with the turn of events that they didn't know what to say or even what questions to ask.

Cheekybugger arms manufacturers were a different story.
A senior executive from the acme arms co. was reportedly furious at the government for shifting policy at such short notice and was quoted as saying " we'll lose millions of dollars " and was contemplating running for parliament himself.

Relatives of the deceased ship captains and crew, were quick to torpedo his ministerial plans however, chanting outside his office " warmonger warmonger stay at home, warmonger warmonger you're all alone ".
A corny but seemingly effective means for the government (whom secretly inspired the protesters) to avoid future embarrasment.

Regards - Steve

I hate to be a party pooper here but any player gathering weapons of mass destruction must be destroyed.
If any player would like to nominate someone else whom is suspected of such a crime, we can all vote on the matter.
Please note, it doesn't matter whether the resolution is passed or not, the guilty race will be destroyed.

This is not a political statement but if you disagree either way you are obviously a witch and must therefore be burnt at the stake. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Right, I'll start addressing a few points.

First of all, I cannot understand your insistence on colonising LGM1 - I'm aware you own more planets than most species combined (more than 40 at last count). Granted, it is a valubale world rich in many minerals, and is 70+ in value for me, but you have plenty of other frontiers....

Secondly, I have continued to respect the original border you have requested, which was not to go beyond Halsey (granted, the intention was not to scout beyond that position, but no hostile or colonisation craft have been beyond that point). I have sent craft into regions of my space which were never under negociation which you've attacked. Have I attacked any ship within your space?

Thirdly, I know other species have demonstrated concern for your expansionist policy, and species have mentioned hearing rumours regarding my "evil" empire. I hope that I have brought this perception more in line with reality, and any species with concerns is more than welcome to contact me.

<sigh>
These negociations are not going to lead anywhere in the long run....neither of us want to back down from the situation, so lets just resolve the problem on one level - what is the distance from your homeworld to LGM1? If it is nearer than my homeworld, I will remove my colonists from the planet and you can colonise it. If on the other hand, it is not, you should leave LGM1 and cease your mining operations.

Name your homeworld, and I'll name mine!

Hi All,

It looks to me that it is time to end the game.

The Unicorns made a NAP with the Klingons. This was due to the belief that the Rebellen being CA with many planets and an experienced SD player would be more than enough for the Unicorns to handle. Although set to friends, the Klingons made it clear that that Unicorns would not be allowed to use Klingon gates to attack the Rebellen and Corporation, so we did not. During the wormhole attack, everything changed as Rebellen were weakened, and Unicorns were attacking from the North and South.

The Unicorns expected the NAP to end, but it did not . It seemed that the Klingons were barely playing during the last 20 years(they did not message us either).

Had there been fewer dropouts, anyone could have won this game.

I vote to end this game (unless you insist on continuing).

Here is my score:

Planet:90
Starbases:53
Unarmed Ships:1454
Escort:9380
Capital Ships:1481
Tech:139
Resources:140K
Score:6540

<guard> Please welcome the Royal Sha'a'kar.

Hello all, We the Taubat people have forged 2 alliances and are currently working on more. One of those races is the Cheese Graters. They are currently at war with the nogoondix, Whilst we frown apon war we have no choice but to enter the war ourselves, A scout class vessel is heading extremly close to populated areas, we do not like intruders and this ship will be delt with. that is all.

I was just wondering if anyone has heard from ExaMind? I am involved in two different games with them and they have missed a bunch of turns in both games without letting me know, which is unusual.

I wonder if ExaMind is having connection troubles...

of the Battle for the Magellan Cloud
Has been Declared

Thank you to everyone who participated in this momentous struggle for control of the Magellan Cloud. It has been officially concluded that the Yangs and Leaex core alliance were the undisputed winners! Cheers Good job to both of those races! Yey

In the next little while I will be posting my summary of the game from a hosts perspective as well as a summary of the game from my races perspective.

I look forward to meeting each of you in another universe at another time.

Thanks everybody for a nice game.

Yang for being a wonderful ally (I don't know what I'd have done if not for Your mineral hauling).

Divinae for making me put up a fight.

Canine for staying neutral and letting me grow (though, I'd love to try fighting SD some day).

Glyph for his space (though, it was pity he dropped).

No other serious encounters..

What to do about ExaMind[ 5 votes ]
1. Find a replacement 1 / 20%
2. set ExaMind to inactive 3 / 60%
3. wait for ExaMind to return 0 / 0%
4. Declare ExaMind the winner Wink 0 / 0%
5. wasted vote 1 / 20%

What does everyone think? Should I find a replacement for ExaMind leave ExaMind set to inactive until they return, or keep the game on hold for a while longer to see if anyone can get a hold of them?

The Zith have missed their third consecutive generation and are now inactive. Has the balance of power in the universe suddenly shifted? Or were they essentially a non-factor?

Gosh, I'm really enjoying this game...The universe definitely seems to be a scary place if you don't have an ally or three...
