TIC TAC TOE

Game summary: The map is divided into 9 squares (3x3). To capture a square you must hold the planet which is closest to the center of a square. To win the game capture 3 squares in a row. A victory condition check will be made once every ten years (this gives the possibility for more than one race to achieve the victory conditions)

Other general info is listed below

REGISTERED Version JRC4 Patch will be JRC4.
Turn generation: turns 1-20 every 24hrs, turns 21-80 every 48hrs, turn 81 and beyond - player vote for 48hrs or 72hrs.
Turns generated through Autohost
Universe size & density and players: 4-6 small normal, 7-9 medium sparse, 10-12 medium normal, 13-16 medium dense
Skill level: intermediate and above
Distant Player positions.
Accelerated bbs play.
Chaff & split fleet dodge allowed
No Public Player Scores
Random Events: Yes

Victory Conditions:

As stated above the map will be divided into 9 equal squares (3x3). To capture a square a player must have a star base (any type) in orbit at the planet that is closest to the center of the square. Capture three squares in a row (any direction) to win the game. To allow for the possibility of more than one player winning the victory condition check will take place once every 10 years. If, in a year ending with a zero, a player holds three squares in a row he/she can declare victory (verified by providing his turn file (and password) to the other players). Theoretically up to three players could declare victory at the same time (hopefully this will set up some interesting diplomatic possibilities) Rolling Eyes .

Players will start in random positions? So one player could start all alone in a square with even empty squares around him while 5-6 other players all start in the same square? VERY unfair ...

A game like this has been advertised (and played) before, 2 (mabye 3?) years back? I think 9 players started all alone in their square? Host was ... EDog? Maybe he can give you some tips ...

I did host a game very similar to this one. I had a non-playing third party use the Universe Creator application to move one player's homeworld into each section. VCs were to completely control three sections in a straight line ("completely control" was defined as "no enemy vessels or colonies within the boundaries of a section").

Xdude is famous for reorganized setups; about the same time I ran Tic Tac Toe I, he did us all one better by running Connect Four. I suggest you check with him about setup notes.

I suspect you should not allow IT or PP races due to the complications of moving second starting worlds (ie: UC doesn't allow it, or it doesn't work right, or something). Darn. I've really been having fun chucking rocks recently.

All that being said, I'd play in this one. Count me in if you can work out the starting position details.

When do you want racefiles???

Sherlock

I've heard others have already sent them in, and I was just here waiting for confirmation that the game is going to continue, and that there were no problems with the HW moving procedures...

Sorry for the delay in answering - but I have been out of town.

Once I have enough players who are interested in playing I will put out a final call for race files. You can of course submit your race prior to that. I will hold a spot for you.

If there is a sufficient player density I believe that a distant start should provide a fairly even distribution of HWs. Considering that the VCs require a span of control of at least 800lys (in a med univ) I don't think that any HW movement would be necessary. However, I will poll the players before the game starts prior to making a final decision. If there is someone who would be interested in providing a remapping service please let me know.

Thanks,
Ozone

If you plan to repmap the universe, homeland movement will probably be required. Another game is in the process of folding because a remapped universe put several HW into close proximity of each other.

I do not think you will need to remap this universe as you will just need to find and publish the 9 TIC-TAC-TOE planets.

If you have not filled the game, I am interested.
