999/1000 times the vets will win. I would be considered a 'new-bie' as this is my first online game. (along with the weasel one i'm planning on playing in).

OK, you can discuss the player rank when game starts? Everyone say how many online games they have been in and host will complect them based on that?

Also if you people are playing in multiple huge games then beware... huge lasts long and it is quite lot of work if you plan to see the end one day.

Any level skill can join...teams are determined by order of joining...

Ummm, can you randomise the teams.... I'm guessing the veteran players check the forum more often, so are likely to have joined earlier.... I bet the last 4-5 to join will all be newbies like me Sad

If people quote their experience, I think it would be a great idea to make sure there's 1 advanced player on each team.

Ok, you got it. I'll ask everyone to email how often they've played (and won). So far there are 7 players so it is not possible to start an even team game yet. Anyone who has posted here to join but has not emailed me please do so!

Doh! I've just realised just how BIG a huge game is! Rolling Eyes I'm gonna have to bow out and find myself a smaller game, sorry guys. Crying or Very Sad

Hopefully this should sort out the prime-number-of -players problem. I've already emailed the host to let him know.

Have fun! Very Happy

I am glad that you noticed now and not 2 weeks into the game. That would not have been cool for those of us left in the game.

I think that it should be said to those still remaining in the game. A huge universe game takes a long time to complete. Near the end of the game, should you last that long, your turns will be taking very long to complete. I do not mean to scare anyone here but just to warn you. Unless you are prepared to go through with a game of this magnitude please drop out now. It is not fun for the players left in a game when someone drops out. It severely unballances the game. However, if you plan to play the whole thing through then I welcome the competition (or teammates if it works out that way)

As an almost newbie, I would caution against entering two new games at once. You may be ok for the first 30 or so turns, but after that the effort will begin to be a strain, especially if things are not proceeding to plan.

If you want to play two or more games, then stagger them.
Enter one game then when it reaches 30 or 40 turns, look around for another game to enter.
Or enter one game and play another as a private duel (which is far easier to fit into your spare time with a open schedule).

I know it's exciting, approaching your first on-line game.
But as with all things, it's better to take on something you can manage, and then take on more if it proves easy.

Finally, of course, you may be one of those lucky people who can give enough time to more than 1 large game, and you may fare quite well.
But however well you can play two games, then it makes sense that you would do better just committing your time to one game, and your opponents might even appreciate that !

M

p.s. scottrick - I'm not aiming this at you, or anyone in particular, just thought I'd put it down and see if people agree.
It's not something that I've seen many guidelines on.

Sorry.
I hope I haven't upset you, or anyone else.
Sad
Maybe we'll meet in the rwiab games.
Either way, you will enjoy it.
