Stars! Olympics - 2003

Stars Olympics is a slight twist on the IROC series.

All players will use the same race for each game.

The game will begin with the IT PRT.

Players will be ranked 1-16 in the following catagories:
Green Planets, Cap Ships, Escort Ships, Resources, and Tech Levels

Scoring will be 1000 points for first and pro-rated down to
62 for 16th place, based on a full 16 player game.

Points will be slightly different if less than 16 players.

If there are more than 16 players, two games will be run and
players will be split between the two games, AND universe
size will be adjusted accordingly.

Universe size will be Med Normal for 10-14 players, dense
for 15+. If there are more than 16 players that apply, I will split the players into two groups and use small packed or medium sparse.

Race will be as follows:

IT
IFE/ARM/ISB
Grav .31 to 1.88
Temp -88 to 128C
Rad 20mR to 70mR
1/6 overall

Growth 18%
Pop Eff 1/2500
13/7/20 Facts G Box Yes
3300 Resources for a 100% maxed out planet

10/5/10 mines
Con/Weap Cheap
Rest Exp

Game play will run from 2400 to 2460 when the game will end.

Game will run on Autohost, using J RC 3 patch, with turns every 24 hours M-F.

If you want in, please send an email to fish@maast.org

To get the real email, replace maast with csfbl,
and include your preferred race name.

I would be more inclinded to play in this game if I could choose my own hab/GR/facs/mines/tech, I have no problem with having to choose just IT but, its just too much alike, dosnt really make for an olympics, IMO

I agree. With identical hab settings this game could simply hinge on starting positions and what kind of planet draw you get.

Maybe it's so that everyone has to go for the same planets.

So it is replacing one kind of lucky draw (1 player has a significantly different hab to everyone else and so gets more planets to himself), with another (whoever is closest to the most suitable planets at the start).

I guess the former is preferable because it would be at least the player choosing the hab, instead of the computer choosing the starting positions.

Just a thought, I don't necessarily agree with myself.

Don't olympics have PPS ?

the idea is to give everyone an almost equal footing to start with.

Otherwise I'd get 10 good races, and 2-3 bad ones that would die quick and give another player an unfair advantage.

As for PPS, I'll have players vote on it.

I'm for it and against it. For? You can see how you are doing compared to the other players. Against? See who is #1 and monkey stomp them into stone age. Shocked
