I am still curious whether an underlying relational structure with functions built on top to give the desired calculations (eg sum of all shields or at least one radiating ramscoop) would result in less future coding effort.

If c++ code and/or xml files were posted somewheres, some of us would look and perhaps make suggestions or try to provide code...

Not saying whether that would be a good thing... Rolling Eyes

Well guys,
I'm an 'original' programmer going way back - so I still love assembly. The next best thing for me is C++ leaving out as much of the 'class' definitions as possible AND, commenting my code (intelligently).

I am writing my client in C++ so I can port it to Unix and Linux. Granted, the client code will require some changes for the other platforms since things like 'CreateWindow' for MS Windows are different calls to linked libraries. However, these modifications are not difficult to implement from the original source code.

I propose that we create this game as an open source project so that it can be expanded on. I will provide complete copies of my client source for free download.

Ptolemy

Though we often ask how and why, we must also do to get the answers to the questions.
