I've dropped to 5th place. Building some more mines this year. Found two more green planets for me. Smile There is no doubt now that the Protons are IT with a fort/gate at Canis Major. I'll keep that scout there to watch for incoming armed forces.

In 2410 I'll build some Yak-Destroyers.

In 2411 I'll transfer them to the rest of team blue, and make some Yak-scouts.

In 2412 we can have the first round of wolf/lamb. You should give your Yak-D ships orders to attack the Angst - and move them to Twelfth Man - and I'll move my Yak-scouts as well.

2413 and each following year I can send in some more lambs to the slaughter.

That should get both the Andorians and the Da'shain up to weapons 5 in 2413, and weapons six in 2414. I'm only a little over a year away from researching frigates too, if you needed me to push in that direction - of course that might slow my wolf/lambing for a year or two. Maybe I should send in two waves of Yak-scouts to bring you to weapon 5 and the mini-gun, then research up the frigates and get you up to frigates, before returning to bring everyone up to weapon 6. Next you'll need to get energy 7 for the crobies, but it looks like that's a long ways off yet...

Our AR person had reached En 7 so could do Wolf and Lamb to give it to them.

Wacked another scout, hoping to catch a 3rd (JOAT this time) next turn.

Found a 17% world south of my position, dispatching a colony ship. Another ~6% one in the north, but its more crowded up there so I hesitate to really commit to taking that one. I'm at 377K people this year so I'm building a bunch more medium freighters to pin the population to 400K starting next turn. Two colonies are now at 25K and 32K or so and I'll send a bunch of people to the new big one.

Of course the JOAT knows all of this since my region of space is infested with his scouts. My exterminator works too slowly!

I'm in 11th place but hopefully factories will start coming online faster now and that will climb. I hope.

No new greens. Dropped to 8th.

The big news is that I've got 2 Shadollolve scouts headed my way. I expect either of them might be able to see my homeworld. That's nasty. I really don't want them knowing what I am at this point. (Actually, can anyone confirm that they can tell I'm an AR just by scouting with a penetrating scout? How do you tell an AR from a non-AR by looking at a planet? I guess the mining robots are a giveaway, but I could move those.)
Because of this, I'm building 2 laser armed destroyers to try and take them out. Either way, they'll know where my homeworld is because they'll see the destroyers coming. I don't like building armed ships this early in the game, because my race is very mineral-poor to begin. I'd like some advice on whether I'm doing the right thing. Feel free to look at my turn.

Because I'm building the destroyers, I'm not building any med freighters this turn. It's more important to get to energy 7 than to offload my planet.

You can tell its AR because the pop is ??? (also sometimes this for SS).
As regards Nastyness towards the enemy.
I am at 400K on my homeworld and will be exporting 600 pop at turn (2 Floating Gardens 800T limit).
In a few turns (say 2415) I will be at about max for mines and Factorys for this level of pop on my homeworld (I ramp fast).
As this point I would normally research tech - but with all the rest of you better at it than me I wont.
This means I will have many spare resources and so can build ships (Croby\mini\frigates) I may have researched frigates myself by this time (will let you know in a few years).
Each turn 5 frigates and a mini orgy (2 Floating Gardens).
These will spread towards the enemy shooting stuff down and pop dropping on colonies - if they meet resistance 2 or 3 will merge.
Ordinarily this would be suicide as I would rapidly fall behind in tech and then have my frigate hords ripped apart by Jihad crusiers. However they must respond reducing their econemies or lose worlds, if they wait till they have better ships they lose for a bit then I retreat a bit and they run in to our Warmongers shiney new Battle crusiers at which point I grow my econ while he fights

Indeed - it's rather a bummer that I'm in the back corner with my WM while our two IS races are right on the front.

Alan,

I don't think you can get decent destroyers out fast enough.

You'd really want to spend a few research points toward weapons... to get up to weapons 3 (two years of research) for X-Rays... then get prop 3 (another year of research) for MJs... like the Andorians destroyers to have a better chance of taking out the scouts.

As it is, it looks like you're buggered. They will find out your PRT... might as well just suck it up. Unless I'm missing something?

The good news is, that even knowing your PRT they are probably sometime away from forming any sort of attack force. (Hopefully!!!)

I'd just keep with moving your pop and researching. Though, it might be wise to move away from energy and get weap3 and prop3 prior to reaching energy8 or higher. You will need those destroyers soon enough.

Looks like you're talking about Marla - actually this would make a third good planet for the Da'Shain. Perhaps he'd be better off taking this one? Though, it's probably in the mid 30s for him and it's almost a 90% hab for you without any terriforming.

Joseph, you want another planet?

Atreides,

Looks like you need to start sending out some colony ships and population. Ideally you want to keep your population in the 25-30% range (275k-330k for your HW) early on for maximum population growth... as a planet becomes more populated your actually population growth decreases (reduced from your ideal growth rate of 17%)... you won't want to allow your population to grow above 50% on ANY of your breader worlds (worlds with a high hab rate) in order to maintain a steady universal growth rate (that's 550k for your HW).

...so start sending out those colony ships and start production on some privateers (with a fuel mizer, three fuel tanks, and no shields or armer). These privateers can send your pop out very fast and very far. (You can also create a privateer with a fm, 2 ft, and one colonize module to colonize long distance planets.)

You too (like Alan) might want to first reach weap3 so you can build some x-ray, mj destroyers to better handle the scouts. Plus that way you'll get more from my weapon wolf/lamb trading when it happens in a few years.

Just some thoughts,
Dan

Thanks for the advice, Dan. I won't build the destroyers. Instead I'll build the medium freighters as I'd originally planned. I need to offload population fast.
As for research, I'll stay on with energy for this turn since I'm only one turn away, and any energy tech at this point in the game is a big boost in my resources. I'll go weapons for the next tech and next turn I should be able to push through to weap 3, hopefully. Prop will be a bit slower.

I just hope I don't get stomped early in the game. I'm relying on you guys to help out in my defence if things look bad!

I'm loath to give up such a prize, especially so close to my HW.

Id always love an extra planet.
However in this case its a 90%+ for the Andorians which means that they can get 500 pop a turn from it when the have 300K pop on it (3 turns of pop growth from their homeworld).
As such it will give him so much extra pop growth to colonise other worlds and pop drop our enemies that it would be a mistake for me to have it.
In the late game if I dont have many worlds I may ask if I can have it as I will be able to make it 100% myself and will be able to put many more factories on it - but thats for turn 120ish

Alan - I will try to make sure nothing gets past me to menace you, I am hoping to set up a world near your homeworld and build a starbase there to give you some protection -if I get a world close to you (say in 10 odd years time) and then get some privateers to your homeworld any chance I could have some of that Germanium you have lying around Very Happy
