A Vanilla game of Stars! with a twist.

Medium-Normal-Distant with no options checked. Races are only allowed to select one LRT!

Game on Autohost. Two year gens through 2420 then normal. Five gens/week until 2 players request slow down, then MWF gens. Game will be put on hold for vacations and holidays at the request of any player. Players missing 3 consecutive turns without noice will be put on inactive.

Up to 10 players - no duplicate PRTs (only 1 IT, 1 CA, etc). PRTs assigned in the order requested.

Only novices (started less that 5 multi-player Stars games) can select CA, IT, or Joat PRTs.

No cheating, no pre-game alliances, chaff is allowed. Single player winner decided when everyone cedes to that player.

Host is playing and will take the last PRT available. Game will be set up by a third party (Kurt Over).

Questions to host steve_patrick@ameritech.net

To join, send your reservation (with preferred PRTs) to Kurt at t36zvbp02@sneakemail.com. You will be notified if your PRT choice is available. Then you have 48 hours to get your race file and password to Kurt who will set up the game.

Game will begin when 10 players join or two weeks after announcement.

Said 3rd party being me. Surprised

Two PRTs down already since WM and SD have been claimed.

I am registering claims by the order in which I receive the emails. I do send acknowledgment replies. After which there is a 48 hour window to get a race file in (JRC3 version). IF a race is not received by the deadline I'll "reopen" that PRT for being claimed.

- Kurt

P.S. - There might be a slight delay between entering a claim and me replying. I don't monitor that address constantly.

I'm playing my first two MP games so I'd like to claim CA. I've also sent off an e-mail, I hope it gets there.

Shocked

WOW!

Things filled up fast. Got all 10 PRTs filled - and even have a couple of applicants left over.

So I get to work on putting things together now as the race files come in over the next couple of days. Razz

And those that did not make the initial set of applicants need not fret! I checked with Steve and he's willing to host a second game if there is sufficient additional interest. And I'm willing to handle applicants and set up that game as well.

So I might be in touch tomorrow with a few people. Surprised

UPDATE! Cool

Vanilla I filled. And 8 of the 10 races have already been checked and approved. Very Happy

Vanilla II almost filled since nice players have expressed interest. PRTs still unclear since I'm shuffling some cross-claims around still and awaiting some responses on player's secondary choices. I'll send emails to the various parties when things start to straighten out. Confused

I'm sure you guys will keep Steve quite busy. Twisted Evil

UPDATE!!

9 of 10 races for Vanilla I approved.

9 players have applied for Vanilla II. Still sorting out PRTs. HE, SD, and CA. Up for grabs. So whoever wants that 10th spot should list these three in preference.

Steve (the host) will also be running an observer race since he will not be an active participant (though he will be active in Vanilla I).

UPDATE!

Should be generating and submitting Vanilla I game tonight or tomorrow.

Vanilla II has had 9 of 10 PRTs claimed. HE still available!
Race files coming in for that game currently, hopefully this one will be ready for submission by Monday with a little luck.

I mailed the game files to Ron for Vanilla I on Saturday. So I expect that the ten players who made the cut for the first iteration will be starting sometime this week. Very Happy

The second iteration is still collecting race files. All PRTs have been claimed as well - though I may have to re-open a few if I don't hear back from some players by Tuesday. Shocked

- Kurt aka "The 3rd Party" - Vote Anderson in '80! Confused

And I expect this thread will be locked/closed once the second iteration is submitted.

Confused

I'm still waiting for three race files to be approved.

Received one last night, but had a problem reading it. That could be related to version of Stars! or the race file being corrupted by a mailer or being bitten by the famed JRC3 race name bug. I've already contacted the player about checking for this and getting a new file.

This sort of thing is pretty typical for putting a game together anyways. Patience is a virtue as a host or 3rd party doing this part of getting a game together.

Not only does it take a while to get the game on, it always seems to take forever to get the first move in from all the players!

It takes me about 2 minutes to do a first move and I never have the patience to get going Mad

I second that emotion. Many new games take almost two days for one player to get his first two minute move in. Crying I always mark these speedy ones as first targets. I figure if they're that slow I have the advantage and they won't even see me coming. Twisted Evil

Maybe we should run some coffee advertisements on this forum?

But then again, Mr. P, I recall that in many games, even when you played in several at once, you always got all your turns in about an hour after generation. Teleport

Just bring me the coffee and nobody will get hurt.

Vanilla II game generated and sent in.

Thanks to all that applied. I hope you have fun and also become better players as well due to the experience.

I'm off to rest for a day or two myself...
