You have two scouts with DDs hot on their tails. In order to out run him, you will have to manually set a waypoint at just under 82 LYs away (like 81.8 lys) so he cannot gain on you. Stars uses mod math for distance so it drops fractions. If you are less than 82 lys from him after you move, he will catch you. You can check this by setting his DDs as a waypoint after your waypoint and see if you are more than 82 lys away.

I think he will pin your scout #36 against the wallif you move directly away for him. Maybe this scout should either suicide itself into Crabby for one more scouting of his ships there. or go to Mu and that will throw him off a turn.

Your thoughts?

Paladin

Please use that santa maria to heading for sapphire to instead colonize Adams or Ursa Major which are both excellent planets for you. Sapphire is excellent for me and the other two are not. I will need a breeder world in this area to help me colonize this area and Sapphire is the only one.

IMHO, sending a colonizer off at warp 5 on a 20 year colonising mission is a waste of pop and resources. You would be better served to colonize a planet in between, fill it with pop, and then build a dock and send a long range transport colonizer to it at warp 9. You colonize it around the same year, but that 2500 colonists would have have grown during that time, and the resources you spent on those slow colonizers, could have built factories which have built other factories, etc.

I know we are not talking lots of pop or resources, but if you are trying to optimize your pop and resource growth curves, you must do every little thing you can since it all adds up.

I will do what I can to keep those scouts going! Crashing into crabby is always a good last resort... the game should allow you to meteorite yourself across an enemy planet's sky! Wink

Thanks for the tips on the colonizing. Once again you are correct and I will make those changes ("I have played Stars! before, honest!" Laughing )

Please move scout #22 to scan mitchell and silver
Please move scout #10 to scan norm
Leave 13 where it is

This should provide amply warning if he tries to intercept my transports.

Thanks,

I hope you do not mind but I am moving Scout #22 to Basket Case and then into range of Taton. Scout # 13 is moving South to Bones (so that it is not at an occupied planet and therefore harder for them to keep track of). And Scout #10, as you requested is moving to Norm (I was going to leave it at Scotty, but you are correct that it will be more useful at Norm). I am colonizing True Faith next year and then adding colonists the year after.

Please don't move scout #37 next turn. He has no DDs in range and it allows us to check out what he is doing on his HW.

Thanks

Funzel,

You were transfered a DD near Saddam, please send it toward Blush at warp 9 but transfer it to Luke (the intended target) this turn at 81 Lys toward blush and confirm this message.

Thanks

Done deal. The ship is travelling at Warp 9 for one year towards Blush and being transferred to Luke (Soviets).

Shadallark,

I am sending you a ship at McClellan this year. Please clean out your excess designs so that you can recieve it.

I am also building you some additional LR Scouts. We should have a pen scan on every planet between Hot Tip and Revelation.

Also, you might want to use the gate at Canis Major to shorten up the return trip from True Faith.

Thanks,
Ozone

Thanks for the reminder. I have freed up three ship design slots.

Sounds good. I would like to get penetrating scanners set up to cover the whole border region so that we can see the enemy coming!

Good idea, thanks.

Actually, not at this time. I am trying to free up some ship design slots right now and will deal with creating additional scouts myself. If you have a specific area that you feel is not being scouted well enough let me know and I will get some ships there as soon as possible.

I did not get any tech this turn from the w/l so I am still at const-4. Please plan on at least 2 more rounds.

Thanks

If Luke makes you scouts the same as my design, it will not use up any extra slots. It will go in the same one.

Please move the DD Funzel gave you to worm this turn (to keep it out of the the detonating minefield) and next turn move it to Blush. I am going to turn off the detonation next turn and try and sneak in enough transports to take the planet. Your DD will help cover me. Please give it kill starbase orders.

Thanks

It has not worked that way so far. I currently have three different ship designs that are all the same design (as far as I can tell).

I have 2 more LR scouts and 2 FFs that I am planning on transferring to you at McClellan this turn. Besides being an additional pen scanning ship you can use the FFs to possible intercept some of the enemy transports in the area. I suggest you planet hop with the FFs so that they will not be seen.

If you look closely, you have 13 like the ones I built (and I only gave you about 5). All the other designs have scanners, and different engines. If he gives you a scout with just a fuel mizer, fuel pod and no scanner, it will use the existing slot. You should also go ahead and delete all the designs without the fuel mizer. For sure delete the one with the Alpha 8 drive since the enemy would gain tech if they kill that one. I would delete the onw with the jump 5 engine as well.

You are correct once again Paladin. I had not looked close enough. Until I can get replacement scouts out there I am not willing to scrap a couple of the designs. But I will keep reducing them over the next couple of years. The scouts with the Alpha Drive 8 are being kept back on our side of the border to watch for enemy fleets. Once there are scouts ready to replace them I will send them to a friendly planet to be scrapped.

Done! For some reason one of the ships that I had setup to make sure that Crabby was always being scanned was only moving at Warp 5 instead of 8.
