I'm willing to help you out and give you some pointers. Basically, as long as you have a halfway decent race and keep your pop growing constantly you'll do allright. It can be a lot of work keeping 30 planets at 33% capacity but it really pays off scorewise.
I would NOT recommend for anyone in the game going factoryless unless you are willing to put in a LOT of work shuffling your population around and building zillions of large freighters and going to each planet every year to upload pop to keep it at exactly 360,000 ad infinitum. Medium unis are just too large to keep up with a -f unless you don't have a job or school or need of sleep.
For you.. try a quickstart CA - say 1/10 hab, 14/9/16 factories, 10/3/17 mines, the logical lrt's and maybe Construction and Bio cheap - you'll have warfighting friends to do your weapons research for you, I hope.

Is there any space in the game left???
I'd be willing to chuck in my own race.
