Updated player list as of Friday 5/07:

1. EDog (no race yet - get it in you lazy schmuck!)
2. Andrew (andor)
3. Alan (aden)
4. Ozone (protons)
5. Pepin (shade)
6. Luke (soviet)
7. Mick (dwarf)
8. Alex (naphta)
9. Chee (angst3)
10. Paladin (flag2a)
11. Shadallark (olves)

We still have room for up to 5 more players. I need at least one more for an even number.

As a side note, a player (who shall remain nameless) emailed me to say he would play but if anyone started treating him harsh he would drop out. Folks, that's not the way to get into a game. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Enough players drop out of any given game without warning to make it annoying. Giving me this kind of notice only serves to make sure I will not invite you to play in this (or any other) game I host.

If it is just a matter of checking that players are evenly split by the dividing line or designating the nearest of the overstrength side to play for the other team, I could do that.

Just let me know.

Tom

I'll let you know. I think we're still in an acceptable number of players to not require this as per Dan C.'s testbedding.

7. Mick (dwarf)

As you can see, we have an odd number of players. That means if you've been sitting on the fence about whether to play or not, get a racefile into me ASAP. I want to generate the game by Wednesday of this week (my slot is open and keep your dirty thoughts to yourselves! Laughing ). This game can't run with an odd number of players.

Send your racefiles to bigEDog at prodigy dot net.

Hi,

I've never played a multiplayer game before so do you think i would stand a chance in your game?

If you have never played in a multiplayer game before, this would probably be a good one to get involved in. You would get the chance to aissist and get assisted by a large team of players while at the same time clearly knowing who your enemy is. Much less diplomacy than other multiplayer games.

Of course this is just the opinion of someone who will be enterring their fifth multiplayer game (hopefully the first one he can be on the winning side in Wink ).

You'd certainly be welcome on my team!

A recommendation though: I'd suggest going for a fairly vanilla race design. A race you've played a bit against the computer with, or a solid race design well-discussed elsewhere. It's pretty hard to go wrong with a TT-CA race for instance, and they're always appreciated for allies! Because you'll be stuck with this race for ~6 months, you'd probably be best off leaving your experimenting for the testbeds.

Disclaimer: my 2 cents Laughing

Cool I'm willing to help you out and give you some pointers. Basically, as long as you have a halfway decent race and keep your pop growing constantly you'll do allright. It can be a lot of work keeping 30 planets at 33% capacity but it really pays off scorewise.

I would NOT recommend for anyone in the game going factoryless unless you are willing to put in a LOT of work shuffling your population around and building zillions of large freighters and going to each planet every year to upload pop to keep it at exactly 360,000 ad infinitum. Medium unis are just too large to keep up with a -f unless you don't have a job or school or need of sleep.

For you.. try a quickstart CA - say 1/10 hab, 14/9/16 factories, 10/3/17 mines, the logical lrt's and maybe Construction and Bio cheap - you'll have warfighting friends to do your weapons research for you, I hope.

It should be a lot laughs seeing what kind of team mates we end up with "WHAT no one took weapons cheap!" Shocked

Is there any space in the game left???

I'd be willing to chuck in my own race.

As of right this second I have 12 players. I will accept up to four more races during the next 24 hours. Do not email me to ask if you can play unless you include your racefile. There will likely be too long of a delay between the time you email me and the time I get back to you for you to send in your file before the deadline. I intend to generate the game at about 8:00 PM MST on Wednesday [4:00 AM Thursday GMT]. As per Dan C.'s testbedding, the odds are good that the first generation will give us an even split. I will send out a group email to all players after the game is generated detailing the rules. I intend to have two private Forums (assuming Ron will grant this teeny tiny little request), one for each team. This will greatly facilitate communication instead of long chains of emails.

I had no idea this was going to be so big. I'll open Capture the Flag II before the end of this month if there are still a significant amount of players who want to join a second game. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for awhile (I think this one is going to take more time than any other game I have played in all the years I've been playing Stars).

Because Ron hasn't posted it yet.

Once a game host collects all the race files from the players he creates the game and all the universe and player files. He then has to zip them up and send them into Ron so that he can create the game page. When that happens you should get an email from Autohost with your upload password and a link to the game page on Autohost.

This process usually only takes a day or two, but depending on how busy Ron is, it might take a bit longer.

Be patient. I know we're all itching to see who are teammates are in this one, but hopefully we'll be up and running before the weekend.

Dan
