Hi all!

I run Stars in Starswine under Win10. Works fine. However, I use XtremeBorders as a utility, and it doesn't save data I enter. For instance, player colours I've changed are back to the previous after I restart XB (yes, I did hit 'Save Player Colours'. Data I enter in Empire Statistics are only saved for my own race, not for any others (yes, I did hit 'Save' before leaving the window).

Has anybody encountered this as well? Does anbody have ideas how to correct it?

Cheers,

Matt

I think XB uses an .INI file. Do you have write permissions to the .INI file?

That only stores the games directory. But yes, I have write permission for that.
The data for the game is stored in the individual game directory. The files are called "Gamename".xbc, "Gamename".xbd and "Gamename".xbi. I have write permission for them too. They are plain text and editable. But XB doesn't write to those files, they stay unchanged...

I have to admit that I don't know how to check for that or how to change it.

However, this seems to be inconsistent behaviour. I've entered several races and XB has accepted changes for my own race and one other one, but not for any of the others.

Just a thought, could it be that XB cannot handle the filenames ?

Are the filenames that XB writes to DOS format, while the filenames XB does not support are not DOS format ?

Standard DOS format for all filenames: 8.3 characters.

The problem seems to be the number of races. Changed data for the first eight races (according to player number in the game) are saved correctly. This seems to be determined by the P-file. If I change the file name "gamename.p12" to "gamename.p1" the data are stored correctly.
I suspect the "gamename.XBD" file is somehow truncated, but I don't know how or why.
