The problem is that without access to the work already done any progress made towards either of those admirable goals will surely stall through frustration at doing stuff that you *know* someone else could just tell you.

I have accessed and read what's already been published. Precious little has been done about creating an anti-cheating filter or an entire "turn-processor". FreeStars and Nova are open-source too. Anything else might as well not exist as far as I'm concerned. Sherlock

Encryption/decryption yes, at least to some ppl. The file formats, which should be innocuous without the crypto part, are less well known, but lots of pieces of the puzzle have already been published and it's supposed to be easy to piece together. Sherlock

it's that "to some people" bit that's frustrating. I certainly don't have the time to try an break it, but without that step nothing else makes sense.

I know the feeling. That's why I've been for years toying with the idea of just rewriting the server, given that nobody with the crypto know-how seems to have been able to build a "file sanitizer" that could stomp all bugs and cheats and make the crypto issue moot. Whip
