This won't start until then. We still don't have final teams. Once we have final teams we then will set a deadline for race files. Almost impossible to start before July 1.

This is correct. No GR above 10, which is 20 effective. Just preventing someone from using a 15(30) factoryless HE and spoiling their neighbors fun Razz

This GR limitation is only for HE.

We have been looking for the last team for a while. Do we want to start the game with 5 teams instead of 6?

While I think 6 teams is the ideal setup, I do want to get this game going.

As a signed-up player, I would be willing to go with 5 teams. Shame we can't get a sixth team from three unpaired players expressing interest.

I want to move forward with 5 teams then. If we keep waiting too long, we risk losing some of the teams that have signed up.

Lets set a deadline of one week from today to get race files to Neilhoward.

We had some options to consider for setup:

I think that with 5 teams, we should go with the circle option.

Neither the ring or spokes will be exact. Here is something in between

It will be a little bit random so that you will not be able to pinpoint your enemies very easily.

I will also move some stars out of the corners, so each team should have approx same number of stars within 2-3 w9 jumps.

It would be a big help to know if any players are taking packet physics, that way I can start on genning the map before all the races are in. If your PRT is PP, let me know at damarae1 at gmail. Thanks.

I had hoped that would happen, but it has been a few weeks. If they want to pair up, we can still add them as a 6th team. But I am not going to wait anymore.

I realized I should also have players confirm that they are not playing PP, so that I can start genning before all the race files are in.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. No one has proposed any changes to the vanilla rule set. So that is what we are going with.

Yes we are at that stage. Breakdown of game:

Team List:

ManicLurch/Rolf
Bystander/Ashlyn

The basic rules for this game:

Race restrictions, CA and IT are banned, Joat cannot take NAS. You cannot take HE factoryless. This means you cannot have factories worse than the default of 10/10/10 and no GR above 10(20)

All races other than your teammate must be set to enemy. No communication with anyone other than your teammate.

No tech trading with anyone other than your teammate. Only one race per player, you can however submit your allies turn if necessary, like when your ally is on vacation, too busy at work, etc.

Other game settings are as follows:

- Distant players position
- AccBBS
- random events on
- PPS off.

Standard cheat disclaimer, which means that the following cheats are allowed:

- chaff
- split fleet dodge
- merge fleets after gating
- Mine damage dodge

Turns would be MTWTF until 2430 or someone requests a slow down. From there they would be MWF.

Condition of victory, PPS being turned on at 2500 and then a vote. If there is no clear victor, we keep playing until there is a clear victor by vote.

Universe will be medium dense.

There will be five teams of 2 players. You will start next to your teammate as shown in the picture provided by Neilhoward in a few posts above.

You can also chose which teammate is on the inside and which is on the outside. Just tell Neilhoward this when sending in your races.

Sorry if you missed that. But it is time to get this game going finally.

Everyone please get your racefiles into Neilhoward and also let him know ASAP if you are playing PP, even if you don't have your racefile done, let him know now. The 2nd planet of PP does make things more interesting for the setup that he has to do.

I did discuss in length with my ally options about what we could or should do... But judging from the fact he didn't send me an email about it he probably don't know either we need to turn our race file for tomorrow. And we didn't really start seriously on our race files yet because we were waiting to know the final setup.

I don't see what's so funny about all that... We do have RL issues like everybody else too. I don't read SAH forums every single day.

It is still the 16th, so you have two more days. Please let me know about PP asap though.

update: all teams are acounted for (concerning 2nd world PRTs).
I will get started genning seeds after work in approx 12 hours. Then I can just plug in the races when they are all received.

I would like a few days to find the best seed for this game, so I would be open to extending the race file deadline to Saturday midnight GMT (if no one objects).

Finding the seed with HWs at acceptable points on the x axis is the hardest part. Once I find the right seed, moving HWs is a breeze. Since there are 5 teams instead of 6, access to corners will be uneven. To fix this I will move ~12 stars out of each corner so that the distribution is more circular. I will also massage a few stars around so that each team has has very close to the same number of stars within a 162 ly radius of their HWs. If I have the seed and race files ready Saturday evening, I should have the game ready for Ron by Monday morning.

We are half way there.
Don't forget to let me know which member of your team to put further from centre.

Me and Leonidas have trouble to connect at the same hours... But our final draft is pretty much under way.

Also, there is the issue of time zones. My friday might not end up the same as your friday. We're doing the fastest we can. Wink
