Has anyone ever tried a 12-hour gen schedule for a full game?
I know that the IRL situation for lots of people would prohibit playing in such a game, regardless of the settings.
But are there enough people out there who can carve out enough time twice a day to play a turn in a vanilla game?
Maybe something like 6-8 people, medium sparse distant, AccBBS, no random events, and objective victory conditions.
With little time per turn, probably want to force no alliances somehow. Either no comms allowed or specific rules regarding player relations settings and ban of usual alliance activities (tech trading, ship transfers, etc).
Never slow the gen schedule down, but perhaps allow each player two 48-hour holds when IRL stuff crops up. Perhaps also hold for major holidays.

I would agree for the starting 40 turns.
After that, would come down to a saner one turn a day.

lol, agreed.. I was thinking of saying 60 turns.
Anything more than 2460 would mean 3+ hours of stars play a day.

Reduce MM and encourage speed in the set up. <snip great setup idea>
I like it. Kind of like a tournament, but within a single game. I'll let this one percolate in the brain for a while before I respond.
