The starting conditions were unusual, so I suggest looking at: http://starsautohost.org/sahforum2/index.php?t=msg&th=52 24&start=0&rid=1560

Basically - you don't get to start with any planets at all, but with a decent slug of population and minerals in some fairly high tech ships. Penalties for race design were applied as reduced starting population (replaced by boranium to maintain fleet mass)

At the moment there has been a decent amount of play - 20 years or so of a highly accelerated start.

I don't have a prepared h file, but I do have all the m files available.
The race who needs a monarch/dictator/president is a WM.

On the basis that another player is threatening to quit based on the timescale of the current hold I can't say too much about this race in a public forum.

Current gen frequency is 50 hours (although that's negotiable).

Bob

One clarification.. with out of game comms not being allowed, the race getting replaced needs to be told about the past talks/situation to bring him onto speed, and to avoid him getting attacked from the very 1st turn.

OK we have a player willing to take this on.

Moderate (although past) experience - so I'll be sending them all M files. That should (According to the game rules you guys agreed upon) be a complete record of diplomacy...

If he has all .M files, then he'll have a record of all messages received. But without .X files, he won't have a record of messages Coyote sent.

I propose that all players compile the messages they received from Coyote and email them to Bob, who can forward to the replacement player.

What we need's a few good taters.

Thankfully, that's the easy bit, with the stars message reader..

Only wish it saved logs of messages you send out as well...
Reading only 1 side of the conversation (as the message reader saves only incoming messages) is disconcerting.

I must be missing something. With this tool I can only see messages I've sent, not messages I've received. Am I doing something wrong?

Mea Culpa.... You're right.

I couldn't open the message reader on this comp and I mixed up which 1 side conversation, you could read... Sad

Edit -
I now remember that I was using the tool to read my own sent messages from the past along with the current year messages, to keep the order of messages right. Saved me from having to open multiple year turns..
With the 2-3 year cycle ... in sending a message, the other player reading it, replying (sometimes skipping a year), and then finally getting it ... keeping a track of which message I was getting a reply to, was getting pretty messed up.

I use a text editor to type all my messages.

And since I use Sublime, I copy all my incoming messages into a single workspace for each game year, and then type my messages in the same workspace. Makes it easier to keep it track of who said what to whom, when.

Of course, if I then submit my turn without copying my carefully crafted messages into Stars, well, I get mad at myself. Embarassed
