Several players requested the slowdown after 2500. I advocated sticking to the 24 hour max, but real life has to come first. Still it is the fastest game I have seen in maybe 8 years.
Edit: We do get pauses. Each player gets 2 flags to request a delay of up to one week iirc. I am exercising one now, so that we have a few days to find a replacement.

The biggest pause i saw only from technical reasons done by host. For first 100 years game was not slowed. As i remember, all players have their flags unused - although not submiting turns by players happened few times.
Thread can be closed, as we already have replacement.
