I know the classic "monster" is 25k@2450 in AccBBS, but what should one shoot for in non-AccBBS conditions? 15k?

Hi!

Non-AccBBs is in "normal" conditions 7-8 turns behind AccBBS.

And 25k @ 2450 is nowadays benchmark for viability, not monsterity. Wink

From my experience, a "standard-issue" HP should definitely be able to monsterify by 2460 under no AccBBS conditions. If you manage to beat 2450, then it's either a QS, a hybrid, or a very well designed HP.
Since I know (or have a good reason to believe) what is the context of your question, I can say: relax. Looking at the way all my testbeds run, you'll be a monster long before any serious fighting starts.

I haven't even decided on which race to use. Are you clairvoyant or something?

(And if you are, which race is this that monsters me well before any wars? That way I can skip testing it! Yey)

Clairvoyant? Naw. Just drawing conclusions from my testbeds.
Almost any HPish race would reach 30k resources before it has to defend its borders - at least in the game we both have in mind. In my testbeds it took anywhere between 50 and 80 years, depending on PRT, exact econ/hab settings (the only fixed settings being medium normal galaxy and slow tech) and actual planet data (environment and mineral concentration - especially Germ).
I'd rather worry about what you'd be doing AFTER becoming a monster.

30k@50, non-AccBBS, with an HP? I'm scared now.

I agree with magicmushroom... 30k in a non-acc game by a HP is a killer monster race... would love to see the race design.

The game in question also has steep penalties for JoaT and CA, and slow tech to further hamper the TT CA ubermonster. So it's probably not one of those, which in turn means it's probably not a standard HP, at least in growth rate and/or hab. My gut says it's probably a high PGR IS with very narrow hab, and that he's testbedding in something bigger than what could be regarded as a sane amount of territory. Wouldn't stake money on it, but that's pretty much my best guess.
