The concept behind Remorseless was mine but for various reasons which escape me I am not involved in the game and as it doesn't seem to be hosted on SAH I have no idea how it is getting on. So having thrown a pebble in the pond it seems the pond has been taken away!
Does the repeating 24 hour gen time work or is it still too early to say?
Is there time for diplomacy and have alliances formed?
Finally, what year is the game at now?
I guess I will have to wait for the end of the game for your considered views, but I am thinking about another game at some point in the future along the same lines, but with a slight twist - make it a team game, in the sense of having several players per race, who divide up their turns amongst themselves. For example, if there were only 2 players per race they could each play on alternate days, if there were 3 they could each submit a turn every 3 days or the team members agree fixed days per week with the only proviso the game gens every 24 hours in order to ensure it does not drag on for months.
Regards,
BK

This was a great game idea BK. I think you were missing in action for a week, so we decided to start without you. The game is hosted on SAH, just not listed in the minefield.
We have a floating max 24 hour forced gen. It can be a little tricky not having a fixed gen time, but we make better time this way. In 47 days we have completed 58 turns (2458). There seems to be plenty of time for diplomacy. Nobody has requested a delay yet.
edit: I wish the three MTs would slow down.

neilhoward wrote on Tue, 28 August 2012 07:17We are on the 65th turn and we have 5 MTs. Two players teamed up early and began aggressive expansion and provocation, causing a de facto (but very rough) alliance between the other four players. There are SDs in both camps, which is cause for much micromanagement. 6/7 players are consistently getting turns in, and afaik there have been no flags played.
I have to disagree, it's 5 against 2 as this is a seven player game, and me and my ally did not "began aggressive expansion and provocation".
The HE, Remorseler, where expanding (as HE's do) northward and we had to put a stop to that. And then there was the problem with the planet Weed that the Zools colonized in 2412, but that the Aerials though should belong to them as it was closer to their HW then the Zools HW. Now we where busy down south with the Remorselers when our intell showed that Weed was about to be attacked. So we fired off some packets and won a few battles there.
Now back down south, the GigaNibbles (SD) either where helping the Remorselers or trying to grab some planets in the same area, but anyway they send in a bunch of CC's that had to be dealt with, so we did.
Now just as the battle with the GigaNibbles was over 300 CCs show up on my northern border belonging to the Saurians. They took 2 planets from me before I destroyed his fleet at the planet Moe.
Now Neil has attacked me with a few hundred CC's at Bambi.
And that is about where we are now.
It's been a very good game so far.

Many thanks for the feedback. As Wallace might have said "It sounds like a cracking game, Grommet".
