I was thinking they was random, since each game I started was.

They are random and thus different each game but the same for every player... adjusted by how many leftover race points were spent into mineral concentration.

Yes I understand.

My false assumption was that since they was random each game, they was also random each player.

If you need a neutral 3rd party to gen the game, I would be glad to help. Am online for the next 12 hours.
Ron generally uploads the files within 2-3 days, so you won't lose any time Smile.

Thank you Bob, and thanks for your offer Nmid.

Slight delay, small error in a race that hopefully will be corrected quickly, everything is set to go.

Ah! My stars itch affected my recollection skill temporarily Sad .....

Sprocket, could I suggest that you add your/a secondary email id to all the turns, thus mantaining an archive of all the files.
Once the game gets over, they can be 'published'...

It's too much effort writing game stories once the game ends, but going through turns is much simpler and tells a lot !

What's with the "Race Name Unknown"?

Are the turns going to be emailed out? I like being able to look back at older turns sometimes.

You could always make backups.

"Race Name Unknown" means that SAH doesn't tell us who's which race. You have to find that out by talking to them.

Hopefully turn 2 will be emailed, makes it slightly easier for me to get the files onto a remote vm to play.

(Bizzarely the easiest way for me to play is to run Stars! under wine on a virtual machine (Linux) on a server I manage in Germany...
I then use "no machine" to connect. I need to work out how to connect from the office now (the VM is on a VPN from home, so easy routing).)

Out of interest is there a "player history" viewable (i.e. what time people have uploaded their last few turns?)

Having an history could potentially open abusive situations which are not welcome.

For example, I was the last player to submit. Reason is quite simple: I'm not on the same GMT that most players. I got home from work (yes, I work in the weekend) and I suddenly realized that the game was starting up and I was the last player to submit. Which I did ASAP.

However, in the course of a normal game I very often submit late. Very late, often at deadline. It is never intentional, because of GMT difference again... But someone who would want to mess up with someone else intentionally by looking at the history of uploads, finding up the habits of another player, and could try to adjust game time gen by submitting last early or late at that other player disadvantage. Depending of what would be best to annoy or try to corner an enemy who need to do extra MM in a war, for example.

So this kind of option is better left out, especially since it is not critical or even needed.

Yeah, this.

What timezone are you in, may I ask? I'm in GMT +11 right now.

Just got online after a bit of downtime... Curious as to how that would that affect the total time available to any one person.
Even if the gen time would be all over the place, you would still get 24 hours (or more) to play. In fact, you won't be the last person to submit/play, but rather somewhere in the earlier submits.

The only possible disadvantage is in diplomacy/ team coordination.
That is easily countered as diplomacy is rarely a same turn revert... As for team coordination, you would just have to leave the onus on ur team mate instead of on yourself, having submitted before him. Not really that game changing considering you both aren't on at the same time anyway.

Scoot over, seems I'm on the same (small) boat as you Smile.

Btw, you do get a rough idea of when ppl submit over a couple of turns.. Especially the ones who tend to chain turns in early game ( submit last and then submit first to get a double turn in) or who chronically wants to submit last to keep as much diplomacy/team talk time as possible... Grrr.

I love those who submit within 4-6 hours of early year gens... Even if one player tends to submit late, then it seems to affect everyone else as they will start thinking that submitting early won't result in a early gen thanks to the last guy anyway!
Ideally speaking, takes only 3-5 mins for the first 20 years and everyone can generally check/submit every 12 hours.... Oh well, wishes and real life.
