In SAS 5, the 8 races quickly became 7 by 2437 Wink

Ok with 7 start, but I am on vacation for next 2 weeks.

A second race is in and checked and if the PayPal charge clears (my 2 cents), will be certified valid. The email address has what appears to be a persons actual name, so I am not sure who it is. Probably Orange, from context.

Edit: Not Orange, Little Eddie.

Edit again: A third race in and checked and valid, this time it really is from Orange.

Well that means we are down to 6. If we can't get 2 more players soon, maybe we can go with sparse universe instead and 6 players.

I might be interested in joining. But i'am a bit affraid about banning torps totally.
Have you come to any agreement about this rule or does it stay as posted at start ?

We do intend to ban torps. There was a good suggestion to just ban alpha and beta torps, I was going to have the players vote on this when we had all the players. It is a good suggestion that still allows some torp use and also avoids the majority of the issues from the min damage bug.

Or maybe make some limitations:
Like max 100 alphas and betas in use per race, or sth like this.
I dont know exactly the bug so 100 is just a guess, you can surely think out a reasonable amount


and btw. why ban it on starbases ?

Allowing 100 torps would be more than enough to exploit the min damage bug. And it would be something harder to police.

That sounds easy enough to police so I vote 'no Alpha or Beta torps except on starbases'

Me too. Banning alpha/beta torps on ships, but allowing them on starbases. Sounds easy enough to police and should avoid the worst of the abuse.

Ok, we have 4 votes for banning alpha and beta torps and allowing all torps on starbases.

That will be added to our final rules.

We have also been waiting a while for the 8th and final player. We will wait until this weekend. If we don't get the final player, we will start the game with 7 players.

Sorry, I just got back from vacation. I would vote NO as it is alot of work to test chaff to handle Starbase fire (not that my vote will change the outcome). I may have to change my race design however - it is a much more defensive game with this change.

I do have a question: Is it ok to have 2 or 3 alpha/beta torps per wpn slot on Starbases? or do we have to fill up a slot first before putting alpha/beta torps on the next slot?

To keep in the spirit of not utilizing the min damage rule, I would say that you have to fill up a slot on the starbase with torps before adding any more torps. Otherwise the starbase could amount to 8% per turn, which is significant.

8 players, so we are ready to start. We also have final rules. No alpha or beta torps on any ship, they are allowed on starbases. You must fill up a slot of torps on the starbase before adding any more torps.

If you have any questions, be sure to ask before we get started.
