I don't know what is holding up Goober. I sent him an email yesterday reminding him that yesterday was the deadline for racefiles.

Since I have not heard from him, Altruist is in for the final spot.

Sorry Goober, but we had a week to get racefiles in. Let's move forward and start the game then.

I have created the game and sent the files to Ron and asked him to set it up on Autohost. If I have done this correctly you should get an e-mail form Autohost with your upload passwords soon.

I have also sent out the XY and M files to all players.

This is the first time I have done this so go gently on me if something goes wrong!

There are in-game victory conditions that could (at least theoretically) trigger Stars! to declare a winner and leave all player scores public before all players agree that there is a winner of the game.

It isn't that likely, though, as that would require a player to get tech 22 in four fields, and I don't think anyone will get that far in tech before the game is over.

The other two in-game victory conditions are controlling 60% of all planets or exceeding second-place score by 100%, and I don't think anyone will meet either of those conditions without having won the game already.

Still, the victory conditions could have been set to something completely irrelevant like controlling 100% of all planets as the sole condition, with at least 200 years having to pass before a winner was declared. Then there would not be any risk of Stars! declaring a winner before the game was over.

But other than that little detail everything seem good to me.

I confess I didn't really look at the victory conditions, just left them at the defaults. Lesson learned.

I could re-gen it and send off new files to Ron but as Caebild says, it is probably unlikely the conditions will be met in this specific game and if they are, apart from the PPS, it would not change anything and the game could continue.

Unless there is a strong objection, I say we just continue with these game settings. If someone actually achieves one of those conditions, it would make the game more interesting to show PPS at that point so we can either declare the game over or gang up on the leader Razz

I agree, we should continue as is.

As ManicLurch says, if someone manages to meet one of those conditions then it will make the game more interesting to have public player scores from that point so we can see who it is who is leading the game.

Game is up on Autohost and only one other player than our host needs to submit the 2400 turn, so we should be running very soon.

God "speed" indeed, I do not think speed will characterize tech progress in this game, especially not weapons tech.
